DETROIT \u2014 Sean Manaea had an apologetic tone to his voice late Monday afternoon as he assessed his season.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have high expectations of myself and this organization does,\u201d Manaea said after the Mets\u2019 10-8 victory over the Tigers<\/a> at Comerica Park. \u201cEveryone is pulling their weight, everyone is doing their thing and I\u2019m not. It\u2019s just very frustrating. I wish I had an answer for it, but I don\u2019t. IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters Connect<\/p>\n For Manaea, who owns a 5.60 ERA, it\u2019s been three straight starts without completing five innings, placing extra stress on the bullpen. <\/p>\n He needed only one pitch Monday to get behind, as Jahmai Jones went deep leading off for the Tigers. <\/p>\n Manaea surrendered a two-run homer to Wenceel P\u00e9rez in the third.<\/p>\n \u201cRight now the biggest thing for Sean is he\u2019s not elevating the fastball,\u201d manager Carlos Mendoza said. \u201cSo, he\u2019s getting hit with it and he\u2019s not able to use the changeup and sweeper the way he wants. But it starts with him elevating that fastball \u2014 what made him effective last year.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n Mendoza indicated that team brass is focused on getting Manaea right \u2014 not removing him from the rotation. <\/p>\n It\u2019s a similar approach with Senga.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n \u201cThey are part of the rotation,\u201d Mendoza said. \u201cSo, our job is trying to find a way to help and that\u2019s what we will do.\u201d<\/p>\n Manaea\u2019s ugly afternoon concluded in the fourth, after he allowed an RBI triple to Zach McKinstry and Jones brought in another run with a single. <\/p>\n Sean Manaea gets pulled from the game during his Sept. 1 start for the Mets.
