\t\t\t\t\t\tMANCHESTER, N.H. \u2014<\/strong> \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani was released from the hospital Monday after a crash on I-93 over the weekend.<\/p>\n

New Hampshire State Police say that Giuliani and his driver, Theodore Goodman, were traveling on I-93 when they were flagged down by a woman, who told them that she had been involved in a domestic violence incident.<\/p>\n

Police said that Goodman called State Police and remained at the scene until troopers arrived. When merging back on I-93, they were hit from behind.<\/p>\n

The former mayor was taken to the hospital and treated for a serious back injury. State Police say that the driver who hit Giuliani’s car had no connection to the initial report of the domestic violence incident. Dashboard videos and body-worn cameras are being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.<\/p>\n

News 9 was at Saturday night’s Fisher Cats game, where Giuliani spent part of his night, hours before the crash happened.<\/p>\n

President Donald Trump announced Monday that he will award Giuliani the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civilian honor.<\/p>\n

Giuliani’s spokesperson gave News 9 the following statement regarding this announcement:<\/p>\n

“There is no American more deserving of this honor. Mayor Rudy Giuliani took down the Mafia, saved New York City, comforted the nation following 9\/11, and served in countless other ways to improve the lives of others. Thank you, President Trump, for honoring his life and legacy.” <\/p>\n
