Well, there it is. It came after the close of the transfer window, but Tottenham Hotspur have announced that Israel international winger Manor Solomon is heading to Spain. Solomon will join Villarreal on a season-long loan that includes all of his wages covered. Presumably there\u2019s a small loan fee involved; it is not yet known whether there is a purchase option or obligation included.<\/p>\n
This deal might have come together last second, but only because Crystal Palace scuppered another transfer deal here at the end of the window. Apparently Spurs and Palace had submitted signed deal sheets before the close of the English transfer window, only for Palace to back out at the last minute. Palace also torpedoed what looked like a done deal whereby Marc Guehi was going to Liverpool, so I have no idea what Steve Parrish thinks he\u2019s doing here. Not making friends, at the very least.<\/p>\n
In a past article I claimed that loan rules prevented Solomon from playing against us in the Champions League. Turns out I was wrong about that \u2014 Manor can line up against us when Spurs play them in Spain in a couple weeks. But this works both ways: Randal Kolo Muani can also play for us against PSG. So maybe it evens out? Whatever, just stick Djed Spence on whatever side Manor\u2019s playing and we\u2019ll be fine.<\/p>\n
Say what you want about Manor Solomon\u2019s ability \u2014 it\u2019s pretty clear now that multiple managers didn\u2019t want him, and there were some unsourced speculation that he wasn\u2019t an especially popular guy in the changing room either.
