It’s been over 15 years since Josh Duhamel <\/a>transformed an empty half-parcel of land he bought ‘deep in the woods’ of Minnesota<\/a> into his idyllic ‘doomsday cabin.’<\/p>\n

Last Saturday, the 52-year-old Daytime Emmy<\/a> winner gave an update on how well his off-the-grid lakeside property would hold up in a potential apocalypse while 40 minutes from civilization.<\/p>\n

‘Well, I have enough. Not 100 percent. Probably 70 percent,’ Josh told People<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘I could be a better hunter, I could be a better fisherman. I could stockpile a little more food supply.’<\/p>\n

Duhamel continued: ‘People want to call it a doomsday prepper thing, but it’s really not that. I’m really more of a guy who wants to stay true to my roots, get back to the basics, hone whatever basic skills I need.’<\/p>\n

The Off the Grid producer-star described his slow process of building and expanding upon his rustic 26-acre property ‘a calling’ despite the mice problem.<\/p>\n

‘I make movies and TV shows, and I love it, I truly do love it, but I had this calling,’ Josh explained.<\/p>\n

‘[I needed] to go and really do things with my hands again \u2014 fix things, make things, and just do the basic things that we take for granted.’<\/p>\n

Last Saturday, Duhamel celebrated the 12th birthday of his eldest child – son Axl Jack – from his eight-year marriage to eight-time Grammy winner Fergie, which ended in 2019.<\/p>\n

‘We had a blast at Legoland today,’ the Dakota Media co-founder gushed on Instagram<\/a>.<\/p>\n

‘Thank you for making these the best 12 years of my life, kid. I love you.’<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, the 50-year-old retired pop star posted an Instagram <\/a>slideshow of never-before-seen moments she’s shared with her ‘preteen.’<\/p>\n

‘I am so proud to see how independent you’re becoming and what a kind human you are,’ Fergie (born Stacy Ferguson) gushed.<\/p>\n

‘Discovering everything you’re into and watching you grow brings such joy… I feel so lucky to be your mom. Happy 12th birthday punks! I love you.’<\/p>\n

On September 10, Josh and his second wife Audra Mari will celebrate their third wedding anniversary, and they’re proud parents of 19-month-old son Shepherd Lawrence.<\/p>\n

Duhamel is 21 years older than Miss World America 2016, but they bond over both being from North Dakota.<\/p>\n

Duhamel also executive produced and stars as stoic rancher Staten Kirkland in April Blair’s romantic western Ransom Canyon, which Netflix renewed for a second season last June.<\/p>\n

The former soap star’s other upcoming films include Joe Carnahan’s survival thriller Not Without Hope, David Lipper’s serial killer thriller The Neglected, and Patrick Brice’s drug comedy Full Throttle Mindset.<\/p>\n

Josh – who boasts 10.4M social media followers – is also every bit the influencer with paid partnerships for brands like CarGurus, Airbnb, Bobcat Company, Original Penguin Sports, and Gatlan.<\/p>\n
