So you can look at Silicon Valley, you can look at Boston,\u201d Dimon said. <\/p>\n<p>\u2018First innings of the game\u2019<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Meanwhile, The scaling of artificial intelligence is propelling <a href=\"https:\/\/comptroller.texas.gov\/taxes\/data-centers\/data-center-lists.php\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">massive development of data centers<\/a> that are popping up all over the Lone Star State \u2015 with the DFW area <a href=\"https:\/\/www.datacentermap.com\/usa\/texas\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.datacentermap.com\/usa\/texas\/\">playing host to most of them<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Related<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"aspect-ratio:190 \/ 127\" class=\"dmnc_features-article-body-embeds-related-story-module__2UraD flex-none object-cover dmnc_images-modern-image-module__QFaG- max-w-full h-auto text-white dmnc_images-modern-image-module__9Zlll bg-gray-light object-contain dmnc_images-modern-image-module__P3kZ4 w-full\" width=\"190\" height=\"127\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1756820592_330_7DOKQHM6PBB4FBN2FH6FJFAG2I.jpg\" alt=\"Photos\/DMN Staff, iStock\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Among the more recent is Cognigy, an AI startup that <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2025\/04\/16\/ai-company-relocating-us-headquarters-from-san-francisco-to-north-texas\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2025\/04\/16\/ai-company-relocating-us-headquarters-from-san-francisco-to-north-texas\/\">announced in April it was relocating<\/a> from San Francisco to Plano. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">According to companies and staffing professionals, the tech migration is being driven by an abundance of highly skilled workers in the area, thanks in part to the presence of competitive colleges and universities, and transplants from other regions. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Those factors have created \u201ca critical mass\u201d that consists of a \u201cself-sufficient, available pool of talent,\u201d according to Fernando De Leon, CEO of Leon Capital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cIt feels like you can build, you can hire, you can retain talent, and you can do that without feeling like you\u2019re going to be at a competitive disadvantage,\u201d he said in a recent interview. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cThe recruiters that work for us are looking for talent and the first place they look is Dallas. So you have this massive talent pool that reached a tipping point recently,\u201d he adds.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The AI boom is a driving force behind the influx of technology-related jobs, according to Akkodis\u2019 Bieler, adding that auto manufacturers and finance companies becoming more reliant on high-tech are also bolstering the labor market\u2019s shift. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cWe believe this to be the first innings of the game \u2014 the surge in demand is across technology companies and industrial companies,\u201d said Rahul Mewawalla, CEO of Mawson Infrastructure Group, a digital infrastructure company.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Nvidia \u2015 the kingpin of AI whose explosive stock appreciation has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2025\/07\/09\/nvidia-hits-4-trillion-as-ai-data-center-boom-rolls-on\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2025\/07\/09\/nvidia-hits-4-trillion-as-ai-data-center-boom-rolls-on\/\">propelled its market capitalization above $4 trillion<\/a> \u2015 is putting some of that bounty to work right here in North Texas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In April, the tech giant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2025\/04\/14\/nvidia-eyes-arizona-texas-for-500-billion-buildout-of-supercomputer-infrastructure\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">unveiled a $500 billion plan<\/a> to build supercomputer infrastructure in the U.S., with Dallas and Houston being key sites in Texas. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In a statement hailing the move, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said the state \u201cwill work with industry leaders from around the globe to accelerate production, ensure supply chain resilience, and lead the American resurgence in advanced manufacturing from Texas.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Mewawalla, a former executive with Yahoo, General Electric, and Nokia, said that \u201ca large number of companies want to be part of this AI transformation, and the real scarcity right now is the underlying infrastructure in terms of computer capacity at data centers to power all of this demand.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cOver the next several years, as an industry, we will have continued efforts such as Stargate and the 100 billion dollar AI infrastructure fund, to expand the foundational data centers that we need to meet the demand.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" style=\"aspect-ratio:5607 \/ 3738\"   class=\"dmnc_images-modern-image-module__QFaG- max-w-full h-auto text-white dmnc_images-modern-image-module__9Zlll bg-gray-light object-contain\" width=\"5607\" height=\"3738\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/QZMGOK4HWVGSDF4GSZEIYW4VCM.JPG\" alt=\"A Google office building at the company\u2019s Midlothian data center is seen, Thursday, Aug. 15,...\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A Google office building at the company\u2019s Midlothian data center is seen, Thursday, Aug. 15, 2024, in Midlothian, Texas.<\/p>\n<p>El\u00edas Valverde II \/ Staff Photographer<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cRodeo Region\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The region has come a long way since the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.federalreservehistory.org\/essays\/savings-and-loan-crisis#:~:text=by%20Ken%20Geiger)-,Resolution,until%202008.\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">savings and loan crisis<\/a> of the 1980s. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The implosion of the industry \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dmagazine.com\/publications\/d-magazine\/2010\/january\/the-1980s-banking-crash-humbles-dallas\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">and its impact on Dallas<\/a> \u2014 sowed the seeds of revival that eventually flourished into the current moment of regional economic expansion.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Eventually, the tumultuous aftermath of the S&amp;L meltdown helped Dallas reinvent itself, giving way to an influx of financial and human capital that\u2019s manifesting in the current moment. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Texas is at the epicenter of what Denver-based <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bowrivercapital.com\/\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Bow River Capital<\/a> calls a \u201cRodeo Region\u201d \u2014 a dynamic cluster of states leading the nation in employment growth, particularly in renewable energy, semiconductors and data centers. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Owing to its light regulatory touch and business-friendly climate, the state is \u201cthe center of gravity in many ways\u201d of the Rodeo Region, Rick Pederson, Bow River\u2019s vice chairman and chief strategy officer, said in an interview. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Regulation-heavy coastal states like Delaware and California, meanwhile, have pushed businesses to leave in search of areas with less red tape, moves that have benefited the Lone Star State, Pederson added. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cDallas and Texas are pulling [in businesses] but it\u2019s being pushed, and much of that is coming from California,\u201d Pederson explained. \u201cAnd California we all know has high tax rates; both corporate tax, personal tax, sales tax, etc. And those are moving up. Longtime residents have bemoaned the area\u2019s rising cost-of-living, particularly in home and rent prices.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">In recent research, the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasfed.org\/research\/economics\/2025\/0325\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasfed.org\/research\/economics\/2025\/0325\">cited diminished affordability <\/a>as something that erodes \u201cone of Texas\u2019 traditional advantages in attracting new workers to the state, and can cause economic disruption in vulnerable communities through the process of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasfed.org\/research\/swe\/2019\/swe1904\/swe1904b\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">gentrification<\/a>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">According to Bow River\u2019s Pederson, the federal government\u2019s push to deport illegal immigrants \u2014 which comprise a significant share of Texas\u2019 workforce \u2014 and a vulnerable energy grid are top concerns. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The explosion of data centers are driving a surge in demand that the Electric Reliability Council of Texas recently forecast will lead to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/energy\/2025\/04\/09\/data-centers-drive-ercots-massive-power-demand-forecast\/#:~:text=The%20Electric%20Reliability%20Council%20of,August%202023%2C%20was%2085.5%20gigawatts\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">surge in power usage by 2030<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cThat\u2019s one thing, can you produce the electricity?
