PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Two police officers were hurt overnight as they tried to apprehend a suspect in north Phoenix.<\/p>\n

Phoenix Police said officers responded near 7th Street and Union Hills Drive<\/a> around 1:15 a.m. for a report of a man armed with a knife and threatening employees of a business. <\/p>\n

The man reportedly assaulted several employees at the business, then left before police arrived. No employees were injured, according to Phoenix PD. <\/p>\n

Officers then tracked the man to 2nd Street and Bell Road<\/a> after he broke out windows to several businesses in that area. When police caught up to him, the man reportedly assaulted the officers before being detained. <\/p>\n

Two police officers sustained minor injuries in this incident but did not require hospitalization, Phoenix PD said. The suspect was hospitalized as a precaution and will be booked upon his release. <\/p>\n
