{"id":194736,"date":"2025-09-02T18:08:13","date_gmt":"2025-09-02T18:08:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/194736\/"},"modified":"2025-09-02T18:08:13","modified_gmt":"2025-09-02T18:08:13","slug":"special-event-planned-in-cavan-hyrox-for-leon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/194736\/","title":{"rendered":"Special event planned in Cavan &#8211; &#8216;Hyrox for Leon&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Darragh and Lorraine Holland from Dutchy\u2019s Fitness in Cavan are on a mission.<\/p>\n<p>The local fitness gurus are raising funds in the name of one very special and brave Co Cavan boy.<\/p>\n<p>Leon Briody, age 9, was diagnosed with leukaemia in 2020 and has been battling the illness ever since, experiencing multiple relapses and undergoing treatments including a bone marrow transplant and CAR-T transplant.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-266693 max-w-full\" height=\"1163\" width=\"953\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/special-event-planned-in-cavan-hyrox-for-leon.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Despite his low immune system and susceptibility to infections, Leon is living his best life, playing under-10s football and managing his daily activities well.<\/p>\n<p>His family has adapted to a new normal, facing the challenges of relapses and long hospital stays.<\/p>\n<p>Leon&#8217;s resilience and love for life have inspired his family and community, demonstrating the strength and adaptability of children facing serious health issues.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the fundraiser by Dutchy&#8217;s Fitness based in Corlurgan Business park in Cavan.is to raise \u20ac10,000 which is already reached for Oscars Kids, a charity set up to help children going through a cancer diagnosis.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-266694 max-w-full\" height=\"1238\" width=\"953\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1756836493_881_special-event-planned-in-cavan-hyrox-for-leon.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A special event takes place on Sunday called Hyrox for Leon, which will see lots of people from far and near taking on the popular global fitness challenge.<\/p>\n<p>According to Darragh from Dutchy&#8217;s Fitness, Oscars Kids has been a great support for Leon&#8217;s family, so the local gym wanted to fundraise for them<\/p>\n<p>Participants begin with a 1k run followed by various exercises such as ski erging, sled pushing\/pulling, burpees, rowing, farmer&#8217;s carries, lunges, and wall balls.<\/p>\n<p>The event aims to be inclusive, welcoming participants of varying fitness levels to enjoy and improve upon their abilities.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-266695 max-w-full\" height=\"1166\" width=\"953\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1756836493_102_special-event-planned-in-cavan-hyrox-for-leon.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p>\n<p>During the summer, Leon\u2019s great jersey drive garnered huge support from across the country, from every county jerseys were sent to him.<\/p>\n<p>Through the power of social media, the young local boy received over 300 jerseys from across Ireland,<\/p>\n<p>His mother Diane says Oscars Kids has been amazing towards Leon, adding that he is living is best life.<\/p>\n<p>She says the charity has played a pivotal role in making memories for Leon and she can&#8217;t thank them enough.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Darragh and Lorraine Holland from Dutchy\u2019s Fitness in Cavan are on a mission.
