\n\tMariah Carey<\/a>, Lady Gaga<\/a>, Tate McRae<\/a>, Alex Warren<\/a> and Sabrina Carpenter<\/a>, all of whom have topped the Billboard Hot 100 in 2025, are among the artists set to perform on the MTV Video Music Awards<\/a> on Sunday (Sept. 7).<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso, the women behind HUNTR\/X, whose \u201cGolden\u201d is the current No. 1 single<\/a> on the Hot 100, will present on the show. The fictional trio<\/a> from KPop Demon Hunters is voiced by EJAE, Rei Ami and Audrey Nuna.<\/p>\n

\n\tCarey will receive this year\u2019s Video Vanguard Award and will perform a career-spanning medley of hits. Hosted by LL COOL J<\/a>, the show is set to air live coast-to-coast from New York\u2019s UBS Arena on Sunday, Sept. 7 at 8:00 p.m., ET\/5:00 p.m., PT on CBS, simulcast on MTV and streaming on Paramount+ in the U.S. This year\u2019s VMAs<\/a> will be the first to air on CBS.<\/p>\n

\n\tMTV has also revealed details about the one-hour pre-show.\u00a0 Hosted by Nessa and Kevan Kenney with special performers KATSEYE<\/a> \u2014 who will perform their latest singles \u201cGnarly\u201d and \u201cGabriela\u201d \u2014 the pre-show airs live Sunday, Sept. 7 at 7:00 p.m., ET\/4:00 p.m., PT on MTV and BET, BET Her, Comedy Central, CMT, Logo, MTV2, Nickelodeon, Paramount Network, Pop, TV Land and VH1.<\/p>\n

\n\tAlso, the VMAs Extended Play Stage moves in-show for the first time, spotlighting a trio of first-time VMA nominees: Bailey Zimmerman<\/a> feat. The Kid LAROI<\/a>, Lola Young<\/a> and Megan Moroney<\/a>. Young will perform her smash-hit \u201cMessy,\u201d while Moroney will perform her track \u201c6 Months Later.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBusta Rhymes<\/a> will receive the MTV VMA Rock the Bells Visionary Award, while Ricky Martin<\/a> will be honored with the inaugural Latin Icon Award.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis will mark Gaga\u2019s first VMAs performance since 2020, when she took home\u00a0multiple trophies<\/a>, including artist of the year and song of the year for her \u201cRain on Me\u201d collaboration with Ariana Grande.<\/p>\n

\n\tGaga is leading the pack at this year\u2019s awards with 12 nominations, followed closely by her \u201cDie With a Smile\u201d collaborator Bruno Mars with 11. Other top contenders include Kendrick Lamar (10), Sabrina Carpenter (nine), ROS\u00c9 (eight), Ariana Grande and The Weeknd (seven each), Billie Eilish and Tate McRae (six each), Charli xcx (five), and Alex Warren, Bad Bunny, Doechii, Ed Sheeran, Jelly Roll, Miley Cyrus and Morgan Wallen (four each).<\/p>\n

\n\tMTV is tweaking the Grammys\u2019 long-time slogan \u201cMusic\u2019s Biggest Night\u201d by calling themselves \u201cMusic\u2019s Most Iconic Night.\u201d (In TV ads leading up to the show, they had tried \u201cMusic\u2019s Most Surprising Night.\u201d)<\/p>\n

\n\tThe 2025 MTV VMAs are executive produced by Bruce Gillmer, Den of Thieves co-founder Jesse Ignjatovic, and Barb Bialkowski. Gunpowder & Sky CEO Van Toffler is producer. Alicia Portugal is co-executive producer. Jackie Barba is executive in charge of production. Wendy Plaut is executive in charge of celebrity talent. Lisa Lauricella is executive in charge of music talent.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis marks Toffler\u2019s\u00a0return to the show<\/a>\u00a0following a decade-long absence.<\/p>\n
