(Photo by Chris Stone\/Times of San Diego)<\/p>\n<p>Fire officials reminded the public Friday to celebrate the Fourth of July weekend with \u201cSafe and Sane\u201d fireworks.<\/p>\n<p>Sales of friendly and legal fireworks can be made starting at noon Saturday in some locations throughout the state. Fireworks bought outside California are illegal without a license, according to Cal Fire.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince 2024, fireworks have caused over $35 million in property damage across California, sparking 1,230 fires,\u201d State Fire Marshal Daniel Berlant said.<\/p>\n<p>Fire officials recommend submerging fireworks after use in a bucket of gray-reused water to fully extinguish them.<\/p>\n<p>The public can help prevent fires and injuries by checking local regulations before buying fireworks, the agency advised.<\/p>\n<p>The following are some firework safety tips:<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Use only State Fire Marshal approved fireworks;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Local ordinances should be verified before purchasing and\/or using fireworks;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Always read directions;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Always have an adult present;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Only use fireworks outdoors;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Never use fireworks near dry grass or other flammable materials;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Light one firework at a time and;<\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Have a bucket of water and a hose nearby.<\/p>\n<p>According to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fire.ca.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cal Fire<\/a> officials, it is illegal to transport safe and sane fireworks through any city or county where they are not allowed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is your responsibility to prevent fires and injuries.
