Bryson DeChambeau might be LIV Golf\u2019s major hope going into the 153rd Open at Royal Portrush but the American has pulled no punches in his assessment of the famous course.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Royal Portrush is widely considered one of the best golf courses in the world and it\u2019s natural, historical links feel makes it a unique test for the world\u2019s best.<\/p>\n

Like many players, DeChambeau knows the course all too well and will be more than prepared for what might be to come.<\/p>\n

In terms of LIV Golf players, DeChambeau has been the one carrying the flag in 2025, having been in contention at both the PGA and the Masters before fading.<\/p>\n

Still, while DeChambeau might fancy his chances in Northern Ireland, he\u2019s given a brutal assessment on the course.<\/p>\n

Links golf courses are always known for being difficult and it\u2019s little wonder they can get under the skin of the best players in the world.<\/p>\n

For Bryson DeChambeau<\/a>, it\u2019s no different.<\/p>\n

Indeed, when assessing his own chances of winning a major in 2025, the American delivered some harsh words for the famous links course.<\/p>\n

\u201cYeah, I\u2019d say disappointed that I haven\u2019t won one yet. I\u2019ve got to fine tune my game and focus on executing my shots the way I know I can on the golf course. I haven\u2019t been doing that recently. A little bit more due diligence on my side of the coin. Not taking things for granted and focusing on what I can do to give myself the best chance to win at the British Open,\u201d DeChambeau admitted.<\/p>\n

Asked for his thoughts on Royal Portrush as a golf course, DeChambeau pulled no punches in his assessment.<\/p>\n

\u201cI played it last time around when Shane won. Yeah, it can be diabolical,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cDriver is key on that golf course in wind conditions, in side wind conditions. It\u2019s going to be a good test of controlling your golf ball, so I\u2019ve got to be in touch with my game. I\u2019ve got to have better feel.\u201d<\/p>\n

How Bryson DeChambeau did the last time he played at Royal Portrush <\/p>\n

As DeChambeau touches on above, he played The Open<\/a> in 2019 at Royal Portrush as Shane Lowry<\/a> won out in memorable fashion.<\/p>\n

However, for Dechambeau, let\u2019s just say things didn\u2019t go quite as well.<\/p>\n

The American missed the cut, shooting rounds of 74 and 73 to finish at five over par and miss the weekend entirely.<\/p>\n

For context, Lowry ended up winning at -15, six ahead of Tommy Fleetwood<\/a> in one of the most dominant performances we\u2019ve seen at a major in recent times. <\/p>\n
