Moore \u2014 who was married to the actor for 13 years and shares three daughters with him \u2014 told Oprah Winfrey on a recent episode<\/a> of Winfrey\u2019s podcast that there\u2019s \u201cno roadmap\u201d for dealing with such a situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeing the ex-wife, even though our family is very connected, is an interesting position and so much fell on Emma to really figure this whole thing out,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

Heming Willis is highlighting her time as a caregiver in an upcoming book titled \u201cThe Unexpected Journey.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore continued, \u201cThe most beautiful thing \u2014 and she talks about this in the book \u2014 was recognizing the importance for caregivers, that they have to take care of themselves. And that if they don\u2019t put that time into making sure that they\u2019re OK, then they can\u2019t show up for anyone else.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore\u2019s remarks arrive about a week after<\/a> Heming Willis revealed that she had to make \u201cone of the hardest decisions\u201d for her husband by moving him into a \u201csafer\u201d home away from her and their kids to be with his caregivers 24\/7.<\/p>\n

Bruce Willis\u2019 family announced in 2022<\/a> that he had been diagnosed with aphasia \u2014 a condition that affects one\u2019s ability to communicate \u2014 before revealing that his condition had progressed to frontotemporal dementia<\/a>, which can cause emotional problems, unusual behavior and difficulty communicating.<\/p>\n

Heming Willis recently described<\/a> the actor\u2019s brain as \u201cfailing him\u201d three years after his retirement, and, while he\u2019s \u201cvery mobile,\u201d he has dealt with cognitive issues.<\/p>\n

In an interview with ABC News\u2019 Diane Sawyer, she hit back at comments about her care for the actor<\/a>, explaining that caregivers are \u201cup against … judgment from others and criticism from others.\u201d<\/p>\n

Moore told Winfrey that she has \u201cso much compassion\u201d for Heming Willis, who is 47 years old and has two daughters with the actor.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere\u2019s no way that anybody could have anticipated where this was going to go, and I really think she\u2019s done a masterful job,\u201d Moore said.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe has been so dedicated to forging the right path. She\u2019s had equal amounts of fear and strength and courage in navigating this.\u201d<\/p>\n
