(Supplied)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">On Wednesday, Detective Senior Constable Saer Pascoe told the Melbourne Magistrates&#8217; Court that Sewell should be refused bail because he posed an unacceptable risk to the community.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;The applicant&#8217;s behaviour in recent times has been escalating in violence and concerning behaviour,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The officer said Sewell&#8217;s white supremacy group had a &#8220;documented history of hate crimes&#8221; and there was a risk of &#8220;serious injury or death&#8221; to anyone who stood up to them.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Sewell had complete control over a &#8220;group of followers who will attack without hesitation&#8221;, Senior Constable Pascoe said.<\/p>\n<p>Neo-Nazi &#8216;aggressive and erratic&#8217; before arrest, police say<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\"><a class=\"Link_link__kR0xA Link_link__5eL5m ScreenReaderOnly_srLinkHint__OysWz Link_showVisited__C1Fea Link_showFocus__ALyv2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-09-02\/neo-nazi-leader-gatecrashes-jacinta-allan-press-conference\/105723820\" data-component=\"Link\" data-uri=\"coremedia:\/\/article\/105723820\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sewell appeared &#8220;aggressive and erratic&#8221; when he gatecrashed Premier Jacinta Allan&#8217;s press conference on Tuesday<\/a>, just hours before his arrest, the officer testified.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He also said Sunday&#8217;s alleged attack on Camp Sovereignty was &#8220;unprovoked&#8221;, with victims kicked, punched and attacked with a pole.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">At least three people were injured, including one who needed a head wound stapled, Senior Constable Pascoe said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Sewell was already on bail at the time of the attack, and midway through a contested hearing on charges of intimidating a police officer when he was arrested on Tuesday outside the court.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"A bald man with a brown moustache is confronted by several men in a playground.\" class=\"Image_image__5tFYM ContentImage_image__DQ_cq\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/1756881613_695_efb3d132719044158596b3d469f1d1fc\" loading=\"lazy\" data-component=\"Image\" data-lazy=\"true\"\/><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP FigureCaption_text__zDxQ5 Typography_sizeMobile12__w_FPC Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">Thomas Sewell interrupted premier Jacinta Allan at a press conference on Tuesday morning, shouting insults and false claims at her. (AAP: Callum Godde)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">He was also on bail for charges of behaving in an offensive manner in a public area for leading a white supremacist rally in Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Senior Constable Pascoe said Sewell committed an offence on bail when he was involved in a fight with a man in the Bourke Street Mall on August 9, and charges had been recently laid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">On that occasion, the officer said, the man ran up to Sewell and punched him in the face, before Sewell and members of his Neo-Nazi group overpowered the man.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Sewell was also accused of breaching his residential bail conditions by moving from a designated property without telling police.<\/p>\n<p>Defence claims Sewell a victim of &#8216;political attack&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Sewell&#8217;s lawyer, Matthew Hopkins, said his client had been evicted from his home and planned to move into &#8220;long-term accommodation&#8221; in the near future.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">It was &#8220;an oversight&#8221; police were not informed, with Sewell going on a family holiday to Queensland with his family and living in a campervan, Mr Hopkins said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Mr Hopkins said Sewell needed to be freed on bail to help his wife.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Mr Sewell&#8217;s wife is unable to operate the campervan.
