{"id":196388,"date":"2025-09-03T08:47:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-03T08:47:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/196388\/"},"modified":"2025-09-03T08:47:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-03T08:47:19","slug":"florida-gop-releases-ad-targeting-jacksonville-budget-imbroglio","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/196388\/","title":{"rendered":"Florida GOP releases ad targeting Jacksonville budget imbroglio"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Statewide Republicans are honing in on local issues.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Republican dominated Jacksonville City Council and Mayor\u00a0<strong>Donna Deegan<\/strong> are at loggerheads regarding cuts they want to make to her proposed 2025-26 budget.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">And to help out the legislative branch, the Republican Party of Florida is launching a digital buy to be seen on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube from Tuesday Sept. 3 through the vote next Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The ad will run in key City Council districts, and features President\u00a0<strong>Kevin Carrico<\/strong> and others making the case at a press conference last month for cutting property taxes and trimming Deegan\u2019s spending plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cThis isn\u2019t a Republican issue. This isn\u2019t a Democrat issue. This is an issue for the people. We shouldn\u2019t be discussing any increases. We shouldn\u2019t be discussing keeping it flat. We should be discussing giving those dollars back,\u201d said Carrico.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cIf we give the government an extra dollar, it\u2019ll always spend it, and an extra dollar in the hands of Jacksonville\u2019s families is always better than an extra dollar in the hands of Jacksonville\u2019s government,\u201d added Vice President <strong>Nick Howland<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/floridapoly.edu\/about\/rankings.php\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external noreferrer nofollow\" data-wpel-link=\"external\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-712682 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/728x90_2024_USNWR_Florida_Politics_Ads_JJ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"728\" height=\"90\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWaste and fraud in Jacksonville isn\u2019t a hologram. It\u2019s very, very real.
