In a recent episode of Sports Illustrated’s “Around the W” show on YouTube on Sunday, Aug. 31, Fulwiley was being interviewed on several questions that surround basketball.

At the final point of the interview, host Maria Clifton placed Fulwiley in the hot seat by asking her who she thinks will win this year’s WNBA championship. Despite this, Fulwiley had a confident answer that calls on her previous comparisons with Minnesota Lynx guard Courtney Williams for their similar personalities and play styles.

“Oh, that’s easy. I got Minnesota. I think it’s Minnesota,” Fulwiley answered before Clifton responded with, “You think it’s Minnesota? They’re coming back for that revenge tour, huh?” Fulwiley then assertively said, “I mean, they just got a good team. They play like they understand the assignment. You know what I’m saying? Like if you watch them, you get what I’m trying to say.” (13:52)

Fulwiley herself is a national champion with her previous program, coach Dawn Staley’s Gamecocks, wherein they won it back in the 2024 national tournament through an 87-75 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes. The incoming third-year star then mentions her former college basketball rival and now Dallas Wings rookie Paige Bueckers, as well as some of her former teammates, such as Atlanta Dream’s Te-Hina Paopao and Los Angeles Sparks forward Sania Feagin.

“Several players but like this season, probably Paige is like really killing it, like she’s fantastic, and I like to watch like my older teammates. So like Te-Hina Paopao…Yeah, she’s been balling. Sania (Feagin), she’s been balling. So, it’s just more of like yeah, probably those three. I watch a lot of it, but like my favorite players to watch are those three,” Fulwiley shared.
