What kind of work does it do?<\/strong><\/p>\n Dallas 24 Hour Club is a place for anyone who wants to get clean, who is addicted to alcohol or drugs, and who does not have the resources nor family support to house themselves.<\/p>\n How did you get involved with this nonprofit?<\/strong><\/p>\n When I first got sober myself, some 36 years ago, The 24 Hour Club was a place many sponsors took their sponsees to witness how bad it can get on the street. That AA group was made up of hard-core users who worked very hard to get clean and stay clean. I had been on the board of The Bridge for years, and when I rolled off, I decided The 24\u2019s dedication to helping folks get and stay sober was a calling I wanted to pursue.\u00a0<\/p>\n Why do you support it today?<\/strong><\/p>\n It has come a long way since then, and with the help of many dedicated Dallasites, it is now the go-to for many, both men and women, to get and stay sober. The facility has been completely rebuilt, and the housing expanded. It requires its residents to get and hold a job, attend meetings, get regular testing, and be accountable.
