This list is not comprehensive.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Upcoming projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>1. Humble High School (Phase 3)<\/p>\n<p>The southeastern wing of the campus will be rebuilt and career and technical education classrooms will be upgraded. Officials noted this project can\u2019t begin until the Ross Sterling Middle School rebuild is completed.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion by the end of 2029<\/li>\n<li>Cost: Not available as of press time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ross Sterling Middle School rebuild<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The campus will be rebuilt with the capacity for 1,250 students and relocated to Rustic Timbers Drive. The project is almost through design, per district officials.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion by the end of 2027<\/li>\n<li>Cost: Not available as of press time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Dance room additions, CTE upgrades<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Riverwood, Creekwood, Atascocita, Humble and Timberwood middle schools will get new dance rooms and practice gyms, and fine arts and CTE upgrades.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion by the end of 2027<\/li>\n<li>Cost: Not available as of press time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ongoing projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/2025\/05\/07\/humble-isd-trustees-approve-zoning-changes-for-summerwood-centennial-elementary-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Summerwood Elementary<\/a> addition<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Campus additions include six new classrooms in the southern wing of the building\u2014which opened in August\u2014and eight new classrooms in the northern wing set to open in October.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion in October<\/li>\n<li>Cost: $13.5 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. Mosaic Building<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>District officials <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/2024\/10\/07\/humble-isd-officials-break-ground-on-new-facility-for-young-adults-with-disabilities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broke ground<\/a> on a facility designed to support young adults with disabilities as they transition out of high school in October 2024. The 56,600-square-foot facility will feature classrooms, a student recreation room and three mock apartments where students can learn daily living skills like laundry, meal preparation and bed-making.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion in late 2025<\/li>\n<li>Cost: $22.2 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/2024\/12\/23\/under-the-sea-dinosaurs-13-themed-playgrounds-to-check-out-at-humble-isd-schools\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Outdoor fitness and playgrounds<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Officials have opened 19 new playgrounds at the district\u2019s elementary schools, with five more under construction, four on order and four under design. Additionally, five middle schools have completed outdoor fitness centers and ninja courses, two middle schools have completed outdoor fitness centers and three high schools have completed ninja courses. Construction on a reserve officers\u2019 training corps course at Humble High School began in July.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion by the end 2026<\/li>\n<li>Cost: Not available as of press time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Districtwide daylighting improvements<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A districtwide effort to improve natural lighting to provide more daylight at each HISD campus is currently in the design stage of the third of five phases.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Projected completion by early 2027 (third phase), projected completion by mid-2029 (entire project)<\/li>\n<li>Cost: Not available as of press time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Completed projects<\/p>\n<p>4. Summer Creek High School additions<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>A new wing and additional parking was added to help accommodate campus growth. The new construction includes the addition of 35 general classrooms, five CTE classrooms, collaboration areas, restrooms, storage, mechanical and administrative offices. Satellite dining commons and lunch serving lines are now available<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Opened in fall 2024<\/li>\n<li>Cost: $25.1 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Turf additions<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Turf was added to baseball and softball fields at Atascocita, Kingwood, Kingwood Park and Summer Creek high schools.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Timeline: Completed in early 2024<\/li>\n<li>Cost: $8.7 million<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. Lake Houston Middle School<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The district\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/houston\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/education\/2024\/02\/22\/humble-isd-approves-lake-houston-middle-school-as-official-name-for-upcoming-campus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11th middle school<\/a> is a roughly 213,000-square-foot, three-story facility designed to house around 1,100 students. The campus features three stories with one grade housed on each level. Additionally, officials noted each floor of the building features an outdoor learning area.
