The festival opens at the Montalban Theater with the mockumentary \u201cAutos, Mota y Rocanrol,\u201d which is based on the Av\u00e1ndaro music festival of 1971, often dubbed \u201cMexico\u2019s Woodstock.\u201d.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a little bit like \u2018The Office,\u2019 where they\u2019re talking to the people about what happened and it\u2019s fantastic,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Douek said another highlight of the festival is the comedy \u201cMesa de Regalos,\u201d which screens Sept. 13 at the Cinepolis Cinema in Pico Rivera and Sept. 14 at Regal Cinemas at L.A. Live. The film was a top box office film in Mexico.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s about two friends that are single and they\u2019re tired of being single but they don\u2019t want to get married, they just want to move on with their lives but they have no money. So they figure out if they fake it and say they\u2019re going to get married and if they fake their wedding they\u2019re going to get money,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Other films on the lineup include flicks like \u201cCorina,\u201d which is about a young woman who suffers from agoraphobia and isolation.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a very cute story of someone who is very shy and it\u2019s just a very touching and entertaining movie,\u201d he said. The film screens Sept. 13-14 at Regal Cinema.<\/p>\n
