PHOENIX \u2014 A man was rescued from the Echo Canyon Trail on Camelback Mountain on Wednesday, according to authorities.<\/p>\n

The 70-year-old hiker, who is visiting Phoenix, is from Texas, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.<\/p>\n

He started his hike on the Cholla Trail side of the mountain around 9 a.m.<\/p>\n

However, he called his wife around 1 p.m. to say he was out of water and feeling weak, the fire department said.<\/p>\n

He was unsure how to return to the parking lot and was halfway up Camelback Mountain on the Echo Canyon Trail when rescuers found him.<\/p>\n

First responders gave him cold fluid IV therapy and used a big wheel stretcher to bring him down the trail, officials said.<\/p>\n

The man was in stable condition and refused to be brought to a hospital, according to the fire department.<\/p>\n

All of the rescuers safely left the mountain. No further details were made available.<\/p>\n
