{"id":198176,"date":"2025-09-04T00:27:19","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T00:27:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/198176\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T00:27:19","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T00:27:19","slug":"nyc-soul-food-festival-presents-on-staten-island-for-its-second-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/198176\/","title":{"rendered":"NYC Soul Food Festival presents on Staten Island for its second year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JFS7R66WKZC5ZFXZD23NXIROBI\">STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. \u2014 Over the weekend, the NYC Soul Food Festival, led by acclaimed Chef Shaw-na\u00e9 Dixon, turned the Snug Harbor Cultural Center and Botanical Gardens, Livingston, into a culinary and cultural celebration. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"MLYF4PD5V5A63LB5BKUYM7UY2I\">This year\u2019s expanded festival included Stapleton restaurant Shaw-na\u00e9\u2019s House, plus Jacked Up Hot Sauce, Vegan Mike\u2019s, Red\u2019s Lobster House, Bizzy Bakery, Taste of the Caribbean, the Glam Gardener herbal mocktail\/coctkail bar and several other presenters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"SOOKODAXWFH2TOZSWZTN23RQWY\">A special VIP culinary demonstration featuring Chef Carlos and Chef Juwan Rice took place in the Tuscan Garden. The garden also was set up to host musical performances by DJ Fadda Forbes, The Jazztronauts and DJ Dlo. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"24FZS5I6HNACJLU3NR72KST2VI\">The main stage on the South Meadow lawn showcased DJs Storm, SussOne and Smoove. There also were performances by BlaqRose and Showtyme &amp; Da Traffic. Maya Da Poet, Eugene, Hasan and Tobias Truvillion will hosted some of the festivities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"ONVZ5P2JMFASTJL2IVUNBMMNKU\">Shaw-na\u00e9 expressed her gratitude to attendees alongside family and pastor, the Rev. Gayle Heyward.<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"JR3ASQBB5VG7RL4ERK5SEYXMFA\">The Reverend said, \u201cShaw-na\u00e9 Dixon, owner of Shawn\u2019s House restaurant in New York City&#8230;is one whose journey combines professional excellence with deep religious commitment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"23AV7XNCWZENVJI3YZW5TJIKKA\">The Delaware Valley Baptist Church in Willingboro, New Jersey, where Dixon and her five children were baptized in July 2015, recently celebrated her accolades. Under the leadership of Senior Pastor Reverend Dr. James L. Beckner, the congregation formally recognized Dixon\u2019s accomplishment through a special resolution on the Soul Food Fest day, Aug. 31, 2025, also the birthday of Shaw-na\u00e9\u2019s mother, Gloria Mosley McCombs.
