{"id":198715,"date":"2025-09-04T05:13:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T05:13:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/198715\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T05:13:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T05:13:15","slug":"parents-of-carmel-valley-hit-and-run-victim-call-for-charges-nbc-7-san-diego","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/198715\/","title":{"rendered":"Parents of Carmel Valley hit-and-run victim call for charges \u2013 NBC 7 San Diego"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The parents of a teenage girl who was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcsandiego.com\/news\/local\/torrey-pines-hit-and-run-investigation\/3892221\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">struck by a hit-and-run driver in the Carmel Valley area<\/a> spoke out on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened shortly after a Torrey Pines High School football game on Aug 22 in the parking lot of 3500 Del Mar Heights Road.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTwo cars were involved, and as my daughter and her friends used the crosswalk, the first car accelerated into the group, hitting our daughter, inches away from driving over her head and narrowly missing her friends,\u201d said Emma, the victim\u2019s mother.<\/p>\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tThe girl was treated at the hospital for minor injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p>The victim was treated at a local hospital for her injuries, according to the San Diego Police Department.<\/p>\n<p>Her mother believes the teen could have lost her life that night.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on the disturbing video footage, it is clear that how much more catastrophic this could\u2019ve been for multiple families. What was meant to be a fun night with friends after a high school football game turned into a parent\u2019s greatest fear,\u201d Emma said.<\/p>\n<p>There is an active investigation by SDPD.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe suspect is a known juvenile. The investigation has determined the charge will be for &#8216;hit and run&#8217; and not &#8216;assault with a deadly weapon.&#8217; The suspect is not in custody and the investigation is on-going with the Community and Youth Services Division,\u201d the department said in a statement to NBC 7.<\/p>\n<p>The family&#8217;s lawyer is asking anyone in the community with information to step forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI imagine there\u2019s a lot more evidence out there that we have not gathered at this point, so we\u2019re asking people right now in the community.
