Pride Weekend is here! Of course, New Yorkers have been celebrating all month long<\/a>, but this weekend\u2014with multiple marches and special events\u2014makes for an epic grand finale.\u00a0<\/p>\n

While\u00a0this weekend is certainly about fun,\u00a0remember\u00a0that Pride is a protest. After all, the first Pride march held a year after the Stonewall Uprising was an unpermitted political protest\u00a0against anti-LGBTQ+ policies and attitudes; this Saturday’s Dyke March<\/a> is still an unpermitted protest. When thousands take to the streets for Sunday’s Pride March, it will be part of a crucial annual civil rights demonstration. The\u00a0NYC Pride\u00a0March<\/a>\u00a0is on Sunday, June 29, 2025, starting\u00a0at 11am.<\/p>\n

What is the theme for the 2025 Pride March?<\/p>\n

NYC Pride 2025’s theme is “Rise up: Pride in Protest.”\u00a0It’s a more defiant stance compared to recent years. “As the LGBTQIA+ community faces increasing hostility and legislative attacks, this year\u2019s theme is a reflection of the Pride movement\u2019s origins in protest\u2014and is a powerful call to action for our communities and allies to rally and march in defiant celebration, advocacy and solidarity,” their\u00a0website<\/a>\u00a0reads.<\/p>\n

Who are the 2025 Pride March Grand Marshals?<\/p>\n

President Joe Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre has been named as one of the grand marshals for the NYC Pride March. Other grand marshals this year include Marti Gould Cummings, DJ Lina, Elisa Crespo and Trans formative Schools. NYC Pride\u00a0selects the grand marshals, “to recognize their resilience, activism and diverse contributions to uplifting the queer community and advancing LGBTQIA+ progress in New York City and beyond,” per NYC Pride.<\/p>\n

How long does the NYC Pride\u00a0March last?<\/p>\n

In past years, the Pride\u00a0March celebrations have gone on for between six and 12 hours. Be prepared for the many unofficial afterparties, too!<\/p>\n

As of now, the weather looks pretty perfect for Sunday’s March. Manhattan is in for 87-degree temperatures with some clouds and sun, per AccuWeather. And, thankfully for anybody who doesn’t want their makeup to\u00a0melt off their face, it’s going to be less humid\u2014whew!\u00a0<\/p>\n
