{"id":19893,"date":"2025-06-27T19:48:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T19:48:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/19893\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T19:48:16","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T19:48:16","slug":"andrew-cuomo-staying-on-nyc-mayoral-election-ballot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/19893\/","title":{"rendered":"Andrew Cuomo staying on NYC mayoral election ballot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew Cuomo is staying on the New York City mayoral election ballot \u2014 a move that prompted critics to slam the ex-governor as a \u201cspoiler\u201d candidate.<\/p>\n<p>Sources confirmed that Cuomo will not decline to run on an <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/25\/us-news\/will-andrew-cuomo-still-run-as-an-independent-for-nyc-mayor-in-november\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">independent ballot line<\/a>, ahead of a Friday deadline to pull his name from the November ballot.<\/p>\n<p>Cuomo\u2019s defiant stance comes after his <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/25\/us-news\/zohran-mamdanis-victory-over-andrew-cuomo-is-a-political-earthquake-for-the-democratic-party\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">stunning loss to socialist contender<\/a> Zohran Mamdani in <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/24\/us-news\/andrew-cuomo-concedes-as-zohran-mamdani-wins-nyc-mayoral-primary-in-stunning-upset\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tuesday\u2019s Democratic primary<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img style=\"aspect-ratio:1.41828255;display:block\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-modal-image=\"36371082\" width=\"837\" height=\"590\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/2025-11-candidates-ballot-democratic-107099424.jpg\" alt=\"Andrew Cuomo giving a concession speech at his mayoral primary election night event.\" class=\"wp-image-36371082\"  \/>Andrew Cuomo will not decline to run on an independent ballot line, sources confirmed. John Angelillo\/UPI\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>The former governor conceded Mamdani\u2019s win that night, but played coy on whether he would continue to run on his \u201cFight and Deliver\u201d ballot line in the general election.<\/p>\n<p>A campaign source Friday confirmed that Cuomo \u2014 who faced a deadline of 5 p.m. to effectively withdraw from November\u2019s ballot and <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/27\/opinion\/drop-out-of-the-mayors-race-now-andrew-cuomo\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">growing calls to drop out <\/a>\u2014 will not decline his independent line.<\/p>\n<p>It remains unclear whether Cuomo will actually mount an active general election campaign.<\/p>\n<p>Even if he doesn\u2019t, staying on the general election ballot could siphon votes from <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/26\/us-news\/eric-adams-officially-kicks-off-nyc-mayoral-campaign-with-swipes-at-zohran-mamdani-blue-collar-or-silver-spoon\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mayor Eric Adams,<\/a> who will also be running on an independent line.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Cuomo stays in the race, he splits the anti-Mamdani vote and helps Mamdani,\u201d said state Conservative Party chairman Gerard Kassar, a Dyker Heights resident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s playing the spoiler \u2014 100 percent.
