GUADALUPE CO. – 16 men were put behind bars, and three victims were rescued after a joint sting operation in Schertz.<\/p>\n
It’s called “Operation Rolling Thunder”, and the Guadalupe County Sheriff said this is just the beginning.<\/p>\n
We now know the names, and ages of the suspects accused of online sex solicitation.<\/p>\n

7 of those men were charged for trying to meet with who they thought were minors. GCSO posted a video to social media showing those arrests.<\/p>\n
“Our goal is to take down child predators, but as how we cast this net, we’re going to catch a lot of different variety of sexual predators,” said Sheriff Joshua Ray.<\/p>\n
The suspects range in age between 27 and 67 years old. All of them were talking to undercover officers online — then asked to meet at a hotel in Schertz.<\/p>\n
“A lot of it takes place through social media applications and various chat rooms,” Sheriff Ray said. “We have ways of using all that together at one time.”<\/p>\n
He didn’t share specifics about the victims, or how officers lure suspects in. He said it take weeks, or even months, to coordinate between different agencies.<\/p>\n
“It usually kicks off on whatever pre-designated date that it is, and that’s when our law enforcement officers are chatting with these predators and seeing if they are going to solicit these types of activities,” Sheriff Ray explained.<\/p>\n
This is the second sting Sheriff Ray has run since taking office in January. The first one happened in Seguin back in March when officers arrested 14 suspects and rescued 2 victims during that three-day operation.<\/p>\n
Last week’s sting saw higher numbers in half the time.<\/p>\n
“It’s a success, but it’s not enough,” the Sheriff said. “It’s just the beginning. I would have liked to have done it for more days. I wish that we could conduct these operations every single day. We can’t, because we don’t have the resources. But if we’re going to accomplish anything — I want to make sure that predators and criminals know that if you come to Guadalupe County to solicit children, you are going to end up in jail.”<\/p>\n
Sheriff Ray said ‘Rolling Thunder’ is just one of many ways the agency plans to catch sexual predators.<\/p>\n
Guadalupe County is part of the Attorney General’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force.
