Very dry air has moved across Texas with some of it working all the way down to the surface. This will result in some pleasant morning temperatures for most areas and a couple of rain-free days. Look for lows in the upper 60s and low 70s and highs in the upper 90s and low 100s. Tropical moisture from Pacific hurricane Lorena begins to flow across Texas by Friday. Heavy rain will be possible this weekend.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Guatemalan children in South Texas safe from deportation, for now<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

A class-action lawsuit was filed by immigrant advocates against the U.S. Department of Homeland Security after U.S.\u00a0Immigration and Customs Enforcement began rounding up children in the middle of the night at shelters across the country with deportation plans in hand last weekend.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0New technology makes life-saving progress against aneurysms in Texas<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

Some small changes in some very small medical technology may bring big progress against an often sudden and deadly medical emergency, and it\u2019s already proved its worth for one patient.<\/p>\n

Brian Abalos\u2019 ruptured aneurysm occurred at the same time as Texas Health Fort Worth became the first hospital in North Texas to offer the latest generation of a mesh surgical implant used in the process of flow diversion.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Spurs launch campaign to garner support for new arena<\/a><\/b><\/p>\n

After the City Council approved a term sheet for the highly divisive Project Marvel sports and entertainment district last month, the San Antonio Spurs are working to mobilize support for the project ahead of a November vote.<\/p>\n

Project Marvel would involve building a new Spurs arena, an entertainment district, a redesigned Alamodome, an expanded convention center, a new hotel and a land bridge over Interstate 37 to connect the East Side to downtown.<\/p>\n
