A 4,000-square-foot open-air lounge, modeled after classic Texas ice houses, will serve juice and other beverages and provide space for special events.

Unlike some chains, like the College Station-based Chicken N Pickle, Texas Pickle Hall is less devoted to the social experience. Although players have space to take a breather, the focus is on the sport, with membership tiers offering perks like pro shop discounts.

“After a few construction delays, it feels amazing to finally be at the finish line,” Texas Pickle Hall COO Alexander Komet said in a press release. “We’ve built this facility to support the full pickleball journey — from curious beginners to competitive athletes-and to create a place where the San Antonio pickleball community can truly grow.”

Pickleball and other racket sports have seen a surge in popularity across the United States due to easy-to-learn gameplay and accessibility for most fitness levels. Several like-minded concepts will debut in the upcoming months, including Western-themed Outlaw Pickle, a second outpost of Maryland-based franchise Dill Dinkers, and Slice Padel, a compound dedicated to pickleball’s cousin, padel.

Texas Pickle Hall will also undergo an almost immediate expansion. The company is already at work on a Southtown sequel at 1334 S Flores St. that will be even bigger than the Live Oak original.

Once the Southtown complex is open, both compounds will be open from 7 am-11 pm daily. Hourly court rental will cost $40, and membership rates run from $797-$899 annually.

After a slight construction delay, a massive new San Antonio pickleball complex will soon be swinging.
