NEW YORK (1010 WINS) —<\/strong> A 26-year-old man was shot and killed at a park in the Bronx early Wednesday, as the city has surged 1,000 officers to the borough to deal with a rash of gun violence in recent weeks.<\/p>\n

The victim, Ronell Marte, of the Bronx, was shot around 2:45 a.m. inside of Starlight Park in the Crotona Park East section.<\/p>\n

Police officers responding to a 911 call found Marte with a gunshot wound to the chest.<\/p>\n

The victim was shot and killed at Starlight Park on Wednesday morning.<\/p>\n

He was pronounced dead at St. Barnabas Hospital.<\/p>\n

No arrests have been reported in the shooting.<\/p>\n

The shooting came hours after Jontay Davis, 21, was found dead outside of St. Barnabas Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head on Tuesday morning. No arrests have been reported in that shooting.<\/p>\n

An additional 1,000 police officers were deployed from across the city to \u201chotspots\u201d in the Bronx last week following a string of shootings<\/a> that left multiple people dead or wounded, including teenage victims.<\/p>\n

City Hall confirmed this week that the officers were still deployed to the borough.<\/p>\n
