{"id":199818,"date":"2025-09-04T15:03:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T15:03:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/199818\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T15:03:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T15:03:09","slug":"steamvr-beta-now-automatically-installs-the-oasis-driver-for-windows-mr-headsets","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/199818\/","title":{"rendered":"SteamVR Beta Now Automatically Installs The Oasis Driver For Windows MR Headsets"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Valve updated SteamVR Beta to automatically install the Oasis driver for Windows MR headsets on Windows 11 24H2 and above.<\/p>\n<p>If you missed it, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/oasis-steamvr-driver-revives-windows-mr-headsets-on-windows-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a few days ago<\/a> a lone Microsoft employee released an unofficial SteamVR driver for Windows MR headsets, called Oasis, re-enabling their use on Windows 11.<\/p>\n<p>The Oasis driver arrived just under one year after Microsoft started rolling out Windows 11 24H2, which\u00a0completely\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/windows-11-24h2-kills-windows-mr-support\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed support<\/a>\u00a0for Windows MR. This meant Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Samsung PC VR headset owners could no longer use their headset at all, not even on Steam, since Windows MR had its own runtime and only supported SteamVR through a shim.<\/p>\n<p>Matthieu Bucchianeri&#8217;s Oasis solved this problem, for free.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"kg-bookmark-container\" href=\"https:\/\/www.uploadvr.com\/oasis-steamvr-driver-revives-windows-mr-headsets-on-windows-11\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><\/p>\n<p>Windows MR Headsets Revived By Free \u2018Oasis\u2019 SteamVR Driver<\/p>\n<p>A lone Microsoft employee released an unofficial SteamVR driver for Windows MR headsets, called Oasis, re-enabling their use on Windows 11.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Windows-Mixed-Reality-VR-headsets-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" onerror=\"this.style.display = 'none'\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Now, Valve has released SteamVR Beta 2.13.1, and it will install the Oasis driver automatically when you try to use SteamVR with a Windows MR headset on Windows 11 24H2 or above.<\/p>\n<p>This means that even people who haven&#8217;t heard about the Oasis driver, and Microsoft&#8217;s decision, will be able to use a Windows MR headset on SteamVR.<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s easy to forget that most VR headset owners don&#8217;t actively follow VR news. Had Valve not made this change, people who bring an old Windows MR headset out of a closet, or pick one up secondhand, might not have realized why it wasn&#8217;t working.<\/p>\n<p>Here are the <a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/news\/app\/250820\/view\/505086494235427751?ref=uploadvr.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">full release notes<\/a> for SteamVR Beta 2.13.1:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>SteamVR:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Fix a crash that could occur when the AMD GPU driver was installed but no AMD GPU was present.<br \/>\u2022 Fixed compatibility mode bindings showing as custom bindings when they are remapped default bindings.<br \/>\u2022 Automatically prefer installing the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/store.steampowered.com\/app\/3824490\/Oasis_Driver_for_Windows_Mixed_Reality\/?snr=1_2108_9__2107&amp;ref=uploadvr.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Oasis Driver for Windows Mixed Reality<\/a>\u00a0when running on a Windows version too new to support the Windows driver.<br \/>\u2022 Roomview is independently enabled for VR vs non-VR gameplay.<br \/>\u2022 Minor UX improvements to improve consistency with Steam (window reflectivity, colors, etc).<br \/>\u2022 Added setting (general -&gt; advanced) to disable IPD HUD.<br \/>\u2022 Reduced memory usage for user interface textures (improved performance).<\/p>\n<p><strong>SteamVR Home:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Fixed crash when hosting or joining rooms.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Linux:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Fix rare crash when attempting to load render models.<br \/>\u2022 Fix various URI links not working in menus (e.g. opening web console, setting OpenXR runtime).<br \/>\u2022 Fix settings crash when navigating to \u201cDeveloper\u201d in SteamVR Settings.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Steam Link:<\/strong><br \/>\u2022 Fix excess CPU usage that could occur when the performance graph was never visible during a session.<br \/>\u2022 New frame pacing: Improves \u201cpopping,\u201d judder, and other smoothness \/ latency issues for controllers or other animated content.
