1<\/p>\n Diners only have until the end of the month to enjoy Jenkins Quality BarbecueCredit: Getty Images – Getty<\/p>\n The last day for online orders is September 21.<\/p>\n Jenkins Quality Barbecue opened its first location in 1957, and since then has become one of Jacksonville’s longest-standing black-owned businesses. <\/p>\n Jenkins Quality Barbecue wrote a farewell post on Facebook<\/a>, thanking the customers for their loyalty.<\/p>\n It said: “We appreciate your loyalty over the years, and we will miss you.<\/p>\n “We look back not with heaviness, but with our hearts brimming with gratitude.”<\/p>\n The chain has become known among locals for its low-priced barbecue classics.<\/p>\n These include $8.50 chicken sandwiches, a $30 slab of ribs, and $7.25 for pork on a bun.\u00a0<\/p>\n Jenkins Classic Barbecue also sells pint-sized bottles and half-gallon jugs of its BBQ sauce on its website. <\/p>\n The chain is family-owned and is currently run by the descendants of founders Melton Jenkins Jr and his wife, Willie Mae.<\/p>\n In recent years, the chain has struggled with bad reviews on social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n Red Lobster replaced by all-you-can-eat restaurant a year after chain famous for cheesy biscuits closed 100 locations<\/p>\n One customer wrote on Google<\/a> that the chain is not as good as it used to be.<\/p>\n They said: This place was amazing back in the day.<\/p>\n “I gave Jenkins another chance and was not impressed. I actually gave my sandwich to feral cats.”<\/p>\n DINERS BLINDSIDED<\/p>\n Nusr-Et Steakhouse<\/a> recently said it will close the large majority of its footprint. <\/p>\n Restaurant closures in 2025<\/p>\n Denny’s <\/strong>– Denny’s has confirmed that up to 150 locations<\/a> are set to close in the US by the end of the year as many of them are no longer profitable. <\/p>\n Red Lobster<\/strong> – The chain has said that it plans to close over 100 stores across the country this year as new CEO Damola Adamolekun takes over.<\/p>\n TGI Friday’s <\/strong>– TGI Friday’s is still being forced to shutter locations thanks to a bankruptcy filing, including 30 in April alone<\/a>. <\/p>\n Applebee’s <\/strong>– This chain is projecting a loss of 20 to 35\u00a0Applebee’s\u00a0spots<\/a> in 2025 but is teaming up with IHOP to introduce dual-branded locations with a curated menu of the two’s best items. <\/p>\n Noodles & Company<\/strong> – This emporium is set to close between 17 and 21 locations<\/a> in 2025 following a difficult 2024. <\/p>\n The chain, owned by celebrity<\/a> chef Nusret G\u00f6k\u00e7e (aka Salt-Bae), started closing down in January of this year. <\/p>\n At the end of 2024, locations in\u00a0Boston and New York<\/a> City\u00a0also closed their doors. <\/p>\n Following the recent closure of a location in Beverly Hills<\/a>, the last two remaining steakhouses can be found in Miami<\/a> and New York City<\/a>.<\/p>\n Nusr-Et will be focusing on an overseas expansion going forward, according to a press release.<\/p>\n Specifically, it’s continuing a “commitment to evolving its footprint in line with guest demand, travel trends, and regional opportunities.”<\/p>\n The chain is now eyeing up restaurants in places like Rome<\/a>, Italy<\/a>, and Ibiza<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A BBQ chain will be closing all of its locations in a matter of weeks.
