The first playoff race over the weekend at Darlington on USA on Sunday night drew 1.88 million viewers. Last season, the first playoff race was from Atlanta and the weekend after Labor Day (up against NFL Week 1). That race still drew 2.02 million on USA. This is the first year of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2023\/11\/29\/nascar-media-rights-fox-sports-nbc-warner-bros-discovery-amazon\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2023\/11\/29\/nascar-media-rights-fox-sports-nbc-warner-bros-discovery-amazon\/\">a new media rights pact<\/a> &#8212; one that has brought fewer broadcast TV windows as NASCAR seeks to get younger with streamers and new formats like the In-Season Tournament. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">Fox <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/09\/03\/indycar-sees-double-digit-audience-gains-in-first-season-with-fox\/?issueId=VGLHHG7T5NDNNMV2XSZYRPXCII\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Articles\/2025\/09\/03\/indycar-sees-double-digit-audience-gains-in-first-season-with-fox\/?issueId=VGLHHG7T5NDNNMV2XSZYRPXCII\">averaged 1.36 million viewers for its debut IndyCar season<\/a> (17 races), up 18% from 1.15 million viewers on NBC and USA Network (a total audience delivery number) and marking the best season for IndyCar since 2008. Fox wrapped the season with 1.14 million viewers for the season finale from Nashville on Sunday afternoon, up big from around a half-million viewers for the same race last year, which aired on NBC in mid-September up against the NFL. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph sections-media \">The U.S. Open saw its best audience through the third round since 2022, averaging 873,000 viewers across ABC, ESPN and ESPN2. That\u2019s up 28% from the same point in 2024.
