{"id":200147,"date":"2025-09-04T17:56:17","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T17:56:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200147\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T17:56:17","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T17:56:17","slug":"hurricane-center-says-tropical-depression-could-form-from-atlantic-system-orlando-sentinel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200147\/","title":{"rendered":"Hurricane center says tropical depression could form from Atlantic system \u2013 Orlando Sentinel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The National Hurricane Center on Thursday forecast the season\u2019s next tropical depression or storm was likely to form from a tropical wave moving across the Atlantic.<\/p>\n<p>As of the NHC\u2019s 8 a.m. tropical outlook, the system located several hundred miles west-southwest of the Cape Verde Islands had showers and thunderstorms that had begun to consolidate and become better organized.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEnvironmental conditions are conducive for development of this system during the next several days, and a tropical depression is likely to form late this week or this weekend over central tropical Atlantic while moving slowly toward the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph,\u201d forecasters said. \u201cThe system is likely to move faster toward the west or west-northwest thereafter and reach the waters east of the Lesser Antilles by the middle of next week.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NHC gave it a 50% chance to develop in the next two days and 80% chance to develop in the next seven.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s too early to say if the system will have any impact on Florida.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">September 3 2025 \u2013 Latest update on the tropics in the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Atlantic?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">#Atlantic<\/a> basin from the National Hurricane Center. What had been Hurricane Erin, which grew to Category 5 major hurricane status with 160 mph winds, ended up not making landfall, but did prompt warnings in the Caribbean and U.S. Atlantic coast earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in early August <a href=\"https:\/\/www.orlandosentinel.com\/2025\/08\/07\/heres-what-forecasters-think-the-rest-of-2025-hurricane-season-will-look-like\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">updated<\/a>\u00a0its season forecast to call for 13-18 named storms this year, of which five to nine would grow into hurricanes.
