(KVOA) &#8211; The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program-Education (SNAP-Ed) will conclude at the University of Arizona by the end of this month.<\/p>\n<p>This development follows U.S. Congress&#8217;s decision to cut its funding from the federal budget.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Arizona stated that SNAP-Ed has been a vital source of nutrition education across all 15 Arizona counties.<\/p>\n<p>The university reported that many educational programs conducted at community sites, including schools, senior centers, farmers&#8217; markets, and food pantries, have relied on SNAP-Ed funding.<\/p>\n<p>The funding cut means there will be fewer staff available to deliver these programs and no SNAP-Ed funds to cover associated costs such as travel, materials or site-based activities.<\/p>\n<p>The elimination of SNAP-Ed funding was part of a broader federal spending bill signed by President Trump.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"TUCSON, Ariz.
