{"id":200332,"date":"2025-09-04T19:33:12","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T19:33:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200332\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T19:33:12","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T19:33:12","slug":"winnetka-mansion-sells-for-record-breaking-price-in-chicago-area-nbc-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200332\/","title":{"rendered":"Winnetka mansion sells for record-breaking price in Chicago area \u2013 NBC Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A lakefront mansion listed for more than $30 million in a Chicago suburb has reportedly set a record with its sale price after more than a year on the market. <\/p>\n<p>The Winnetka estate known as the &#8220;Windsor House,&#8221; a 2.3-acre property listed for $35 million, has officially sold for $31.25 million.  <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/winnetka-mansion-1.webp\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s a record, marking the &#8220;highest-priced home resale in Chicago-area history,&#8221; according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chicagotribune.com\/2025\/09\/04\/elite-street-419-sheridan-winnetka-record\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Tribune.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Listing agent Jena Radnay called it a &#8220;one-of-a-kind situation&#8221; and described the sale as &#8220;seamless from one generation into another.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everything kind of fell into place for all the right reasons,&#8221; she told NBC Chicago. <\/p>\n<p>The home was first listed in August 2024, described as &#8220;the most iconic lakefront estate in IL,&#8221; according to its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.atproperties.com\/12134845\/419-sheridan-road-winnetka-illinois-60093-nei\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">listing<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/winnetka-mansion-5.webp\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The &#8216;Windsor House&#8217; has been elevated to a new grandeur of living with a best in class collaboration lead by nationally recognized interior design, landscape architects &amp; coastal engineering teams,&#8221; the listing read. &#8220;Gloriously expanded to 2.3 acres with the purchase of 429 Sheridan transformed into a commercial level botanical garden with a Lannon stone custom fountain, manicured hedges &amp; grassy lawn, heated motor court for 10 cars, &amp; meticulously engineered nailess pergola overlooking the infinity pool area with panoramic lake views. The only home on the entire shoreline that is reminiscent of 5-star boutique level European hotel delivering a true vacation living experiences 365 days a year.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The 22-room mansion was designed with French inspiration and includes 223 feet of private beachfront property that includes a boathouse and commercial-level boardwalk. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There is nothing even remotely comparable to this estate,&#8221; the listing read. <\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/winnetka-mansion-12.webp\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/winnetka-mansion-10.webp\" loading=\"lazy\"   alt=\" \"\/><\/p>\n<p>Radnay said the year-long search for a buyer proved fruitful, but she wasn&#8217;t worried about the price. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I really believed in the price because I knew the house delivered,&#8221; she said. &#8220;There&#8217;s always a buyer when something is truly unique.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The home wasn&#8217;t the most expensive mansion to be listed in the Chicago area, however. <\/p>\n<p>In 2022, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcchicago.com\/news\/local\/lincoln-park-mansion-regarded-as-chicagos-most-luxurious-home-on-market-for-30-million\/3056903\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a luxurious Lincoln Park estate<\/a> was listed at a record $50 million &#8211; the most expensive home for sale in Chicago. The price later dropped to $45 million, and again to $30 million.
