{"id":20034,"date":"2025-06-27T21:01:11","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T21:01:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/20034\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T21:01:11","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T21:01:11","slug":"n-y-man-convicted-of-sexually-assaulting-n-j-teenager-at-a-motel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/20034\/","title":{"rendered":"N.Y. man convicted of sexually assaulting N.J. teenager at a motel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"X3GBJB6HURHOTCEZ5LVRYKIWAM\">A New York man was convicted of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old at a Monmouth County motel in 2023, officials with the <a href=\"https:\/\/mcponj.org\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLL0Q5leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFNQ1lGMElpQmxEVER3VDM3AR7uZBO2Amb4mV-BUIOcNKmnNV7TeJjPZ7cVSO1DGSZw4Lx1jDgk2H6027RukQ_aem_5UKu8lt-WssTgbIPU4faog\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/mcponj.org\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawLL0Q5leHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFNQ1lGMElpQmxEVER3VDM3AR7uZBO2Amb4mV-BUIOcNKmnNV7TeJjPZ7cVSO1DGSZw4Lx1jDgk2H6027RukQ_aem_5UKu8lt-WssTgbIPU4faog\">Monmouth County Prosecutor\u2019s Office<\/a> said Friday. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"QZI4WKFMSVFNJASNTVOGSBW6RQ\">David Leigh, 35, of Auburn, New York, was found guilty of second-degree sexual assault, third-degree endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"HXSQ2DMHF5CR3AZ3CSWHPTTPZA\">The jury deliberated for two hours Thursday after a week-long trial, according to officials. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"6DIYS5AGDJA4JPPDLCU7ZFVYPQ\">Leigh was accused of meeting the 14-year-old through social media and subsequently meeting the teenager at a motel in Neptune where the sexual assault took place in April 2023, officials said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"KVYR3XTGINC3JHWS3JNKOKWRNQ\">The teenager told Leigh her age prior to the assault, authorities said. Leigh was arrested in January 2024, officials said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"WWJXUTCF65AMZFTWF5L4MXTU5I\">Evidence presented during the trial included the teenager\u2019s testimony and physical and electronic evidence, officials said. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"FML4SAKRTFBTRK2CPIV3Y4TDEM\">Leigh\u2019s sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 12 and he faces up to 10 years in prison, according to officials. <\/p>\n<p class=\"article__paragraph article__paragraph--left\" id=\"IOKWH6DUERHS7LID3SD4HJSUCI\">\u201cIt was a very hard fought and tough trial,\u201d Leigh\u2019s attorney George J.
