Kevin Young and assistants Chris Burgess, Brandon Dunson, and John Linehan also visited with Austin in his Texas home. Not anything groundbreaking, but one source told me the visit went great (I’d be concerned if it didn’t).

Austin is right in the middle of his official visit schedule and BYU is among the top schools. Austin took a visit to Duke last weekend and visits Texas this coming weekend. Austin took an unofficial visit to BYU this summer, and the trip put BYU squarely in the mix as one of his top schools. Austin is the top-rated LDS player in the class and has family that lives in Utah and attends BYU. Texas and Duke are also viewed as top contenders. The Blue Devils have the obvious prestige and have made Austin a bigger priority, and Austin has lots of family ties to Texas. His older brother, Michael, is a starting OL for the Longhorns and the family is Texas fans.

Austin has been climbing recruiting rankings. He is rated a 5-Star recruit by ESPN, and just today, 247 Sports updated their rankings and changed his composite ranking to 5 stars. He is rated the #19 player in the class by 247 Sports.

BYU has made Austin a priority, and BYU has the potential advantage of being Austin’s final official visit when he comes to Provo September 26-28. With the departures of AJ Dybantsa, Richie Saunders, Nate Pickens, Dawson Baker and others after this coming season, Austin would have a chance to get significant playing time as a true freshman.

A 6-foot-5 combo guard with a 6-foot-9 wing span, Austin is a high-level athlete who can get the rim and has a great feel for the game. He has the tools to be an elite defender and the skills and athleticism to be an All-Big 12 player in his college career.

The college basketball recruiting calendar flipped on 9/3 to resume all in-person recruiting, and coaches around the country…

[44
1339,10226,51095,1317,1337,1338,62,67,132,68
0":"post-200514","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-ncaa-basketball","8":"tag-basketball","9":"tag-byu-basketball","10":"tag-byu-basketball-recruiting","11":"tag-ncaa","12":"tag-ncaa-basketball","13":"tag-ncaabasketball","14":"tag-sports","15":"tag-united-states","16":"tag-unitedstates","17":"tag-us
["GET
