Gainey is coming off a breakout senior season, averaging <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/jordan-gainey-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">11.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.9 assists<\/a> while shooting 40.5% from the floor.<\/p>\n<p>Gainey, the son of Tennessee associate head coach Justin Gainey, spent two seasons with the Vols after transferring from USC Upstate.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He averaged 6.8 points in 18.4 minutes per game in 2023-24, before jumping up to 11.6 points per game in 27.8 minutes last season, coming off the bench in all but one of his 74 games at Tennessee.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/zakai-zeigler-147026\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zakai Zeigler<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0will also play in the NBA Summer League with the Detroit Pistons after going undrafted. He averaged\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cbb\/players\/zakai-zeigler-1.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">11.3 points, 5.4 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.8 steals<\/a>\u00a0in 29.3 minutes per game over 118 career games at Tennessee, shooting 39.0% from the field and 33.1% from the 3-point line.<\/p>\n<p>Zeigler had a career year last season, averaging 13.6 points, 7.4 assists, 2.9 rebounds and 1.9 steals in 34.2 minutes per game while leading Tennessee to a second straight trip to the Elite Eight.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the season he became Tennessee\u2019s all-time assists leader (747), single-season assists leader (257), the SEC\u2019s single-season assists record holder and the first player in SEC history with 1,550 points, 700 assists, 350 rebounds and 250 steals.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two Vols drafted, Zakai Zeigler gets NBA Summer League deal<\/p>\n<p>Two Tennessee players heard their names called in the second round Thursday night. The Pistons took\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/chaz-lanier-226620\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Chaz Lanier<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0at No. 37 overall and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/jahmai-mashack-52990\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jahmai Mashack<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0was the final pick in the draft, going at No. 59 overall to the Memphis Grizzlies, via a trade with the Houston Rockets.<\/p>\n<p>Lanier in his one season at Tennessee averaged 18.0 points per game last season while shooting 43.1% from the field and 39.5% from the 3-point line.\u00a0He made 123 3-pointers in 38 games, breaking the previous record of 118 held by\u00a0<strong>Chris<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Lofton<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Nashville native transferred to Tennessee from North Florida, picking the home-state Vols over Kentucky and BYU. He had a breakout senior year at North Florida in 2023-24, averaging 19.7 points per game and making 108 threes in 32 games, shooting a career-high 44.0% from the 3-point line.<\/p>\n<p>Mashack,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/utsports.com\/sports\/mens-basketball\/roster\/jahmai-mashack\/20401\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the 6-foot-4, 202-pound Fontana, Calif., native<\/a>, was considered one of the best perimeter defenders in college basketball last season while averaging 6.0 points, 4.2 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 38 games as a senior with the Vols.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Igor Milicic Jr. gets Exhibit 10 contract with Philadelphia 76ers<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/rivals\/igor-milicic-jr-154980\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Igor Milicic Jr.<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0is getting a shot at the NBA with an Exhibit 10 contract with the Philadelphia 76ers,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JonChep\/status\/1938444716799848596\" rel=\"nofollow\">according to Jon Chepkevich<\/a>. The 6-foot-10 forward averaged 9.4 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 37 games at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.on3.com\/teams\/tennessee-volunteers\/category\/basketball\/news\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tennessee<\/a>\u00a0last season.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Milicic, who transferred to Tennessee from Charlotte last spring, averaged 8.8 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 119 games in college basketball, shooting 47.5% from the field and 34.5% from the 3-point line.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>An Exhibit 10 contract is a one-year, minimum salary NBA contract with an Exhibit 10 attachment.
