{"id":200773,"date":"2025-09-04T23:18:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-04T23:18:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200773\/"},"modified":"2025-09-04T23:18:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T23:18:11","slug":"puppy-partners-are-boosting-reading-skills-in-phoenix-school","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200773\/","title":{"rendered":"Puppy partners are boosting reading skills in Phoenix school"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>PHOENIX \u2014 Some furry friends are helping students practice reading.<\/p>\n<p>Goldwater High School is pairing up students falling behind in reading with therapy dogs, and it&#8217;s helping boost scores by offering a calm, non-judgmental listener. <\/p>\n<p>The dogs are provided by <a class=\"Link\" href=\"https:\/\/arizonatherapydogs.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Arizona Therapy Dogs<\/a>, an organization that provides service dogs to those with disabilities, therapy dogs for those in hospitals, schools, and nursing homes, and emotional support animals for those in need.<\/p>\n<p>The students read out loud to the pups for 15 minutes a day, once a week, for eight weeks and school officials say the results speak for themselves. <\/p>\n<p>Students who&#8217;ve been a part of the program have seen both their reading accuracy and rate improve.<\/p>\n<p>ABC15 got to see the adorable partnership in action on Thursday.
