{"id":200875,"date":"2025-09-05T00:10:10","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T00:10:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200875\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T00:10:10","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T00:10:10","slug":"asia-pacific-markets-set-to-open-mixed-after-trump-formalizes-lower-japanese-auto-tariffs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/200875\/","title":{"rendered":"Asia-Pacific markets set to open mixed after Trump formalizes lower Japanese auto tariffs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mount Fuji and buildings in the Shinjuku district are reflected on a table at an observation deck in Tokyo, Japan, on December 24, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>Kiyoshi Ota | Bloomberg | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Asia-Pacific markets were set to open mixed Friday after U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order Thursday formalizing a lower Japanese auto import tariff of 15%, down from 27.5%.<\/p>\n<p>The order also confirms the agreement for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/26\/lutnick-says-update-coming-this-week-on-japans-550-billion-us-investment.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">$550 billion of Japanese investments<\/a> in U.S. projects.<\/p>\n<p>Japan&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.N225\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nikkei 225<\/a> was set to open higher, with the futures contract in Chicago at 42,945, while its counterpart in Osaka last traded at 42,910, against the index&#8217;s last close of 42,580. 27.<\/p>\n<p>Hong Kong&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.HSI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Hang Seng Index<\/a> was on course to open lower, with the futures contract at 25,021, compared with its Thursday close at 25,058.51.<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.AXJO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P\/ASX 200<\/a> was set to open higher, with the futures contract at 8,866 against the index&#8217;s last close at 8,826.5.<\/p>\n<p>Malaysian and Indonesian markets were closed for a holiday.<\/p>\n<p>U.S. equity futures were little changed ahead of the August jobs report due out Friday stateside.<\/p>\n<p>Overnight stateside, all three key benchmarks rose on hopes of a favorable jobs report that supports a Federal Reserve rate cut chance.<\/p>\n<p>The broad market S&amp;P 500 finished up 0.83% at 6,502.08, while the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a>\u00a0settled up 0.98% at 21,707.69. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.DJI\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dow Jones Industrial Average<\/a>\u00a0finished up 350.06 points, or 0.77%, at 45,621.29.
