NEW YORK CITY \u2014 Through the first eight months of 2025, there were nearly 13,000 residential evictions across New York City, according to New York City\u2019s Open Data portal. <\/p>\n

From Jan. 1 through August 27 there were 12,994 residential evictions citywide, according to data updated on Thursday. <\/p>\n

The borough with the most evictions during that period was the Bronx with 4,131 evictions, followed by Brooklyn with 3,464. Queens rounded out the top three with 2851 evictions, according to city data. <\/p>\n

5. Staten Island:<\/strong> 472 evictions<\/p>\n

City marshals are averaging 1,500 evictions a month this year, according to Gothamist<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The eviction process can take months or even years in some cases. <\/p>\n

While monthly evictions are up, the number of cases filed by landlords has actually decreased, according to the New York Post<\/a>. <\/p>\n
