The report is expected to confirm these trends seen elsewhere in the US economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Economists expect the US economy added 75,000 jobs in August while the unemployment rate is expected to have risen to 4.3%, according to data from Bloomberg. Economists are also expecting hourly earnings to have increased 0.3% over the prior month in August and 3.7% over last year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">In July, the economy <a data-i13n=\"cpos:1;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/us-labor-market-adds-73000-jobs-in-july-while-may-june-reports-see-larger-than-normal-downward-revisions-195103455.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:created 73,000 new jobs;cpos:1;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">created 73,000 new jobs<\/a>, but the headline that emerged from that report was revisions to job gains in May and June, which wiped out some 258,000 previously reported gains.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Following that report, President Trump <a data-i13n=\"cpos:2;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/president-trump-fires-bls-commissioner-after-july-jobs-report-disappoints-182118823.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:removed the head of the BLS;cpos:2;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">removed the head of the BLS<\/a>, Erika McEntarfer. Trump later <a data-i13n=\"cpos:3;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/trump-names-heritage-ej-antoni-231102700.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:nominated EJ Antoni;cpos:3;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nominated EJ Antoni<\/a>, chief economist at the Heritage Foundation, to take the role.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">&#8220;We continue to see softness growing in the labor market as tariff policy uncertainty lingers, immigration changes take effect, and AI adoption grows,&#8221; Eric Teal, chief investment officer of Comerica Wealth Management, wrote in an email on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">&#8220;The silver-lining is the weaker the jobs data the more cover there is for stimulative interest rate cuts that are on the horizon.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>    <img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/ywAAAAAAQABAAACAUwAOw==\" alt=\"Construction workers work the exterior of a housing development in Los Angeles, California, on August 28, 2025. BROWN via Getty Images    <\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">Friday&#8217;s report will come after data out Thursday from <a data-i13n=\"cpos:4;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/us-private-payrolls-miss-expectations-122936780.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:private payroll provider ADP;cpos:4;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">private payroll provider ADP<\/a> showed there were 54,000 private sector jobs created last month, while data from the Labor Department showed initial filings for unemployment insurance <a data-i13n=\"cpos:5;pos:1\" href=\"https:\/\/finance.yahoo.com\/news\/us-weekly-jobless-claims-rise-124623581.html\" data-ylk=\"slk:tallied 237,000 last week;cpos:5;pos:1;elm:context_link;itc:0;sec:content-canvas;outcm:mb_qualified_link;_E:mb_qualified_link;ct:story;\" class=\"link  yahoo-link\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tallied 237,000 last week<\/a>, the most since June.<\/p>\n<p class=\"yf-1090901\">The results will be closely watched as the Federal Reserve looks increasingly likely to cut rates in September after months of inaction.
