Main St. in 2020.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p3\" class=\"permalinkable\">In May, McQueen opened a second location, Scoops Lounge at Northpoint, at 11257 Alta Drive in Dunns Creek Crossing shopping center.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p4\" class=\"permalinkable\">Opening her business in the pandemic wasn\u2019t easy, she said. Her shop was able to stay open during the government shutdown because it was deemed part of an essential industry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"media-element file-default fr-fic fr-dii\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/ScoopsAnniversary_DanielleMcQueen_IZybH82_t850.jpeg\" title=\"The first Springfield Scoops at 1807 N. Main St.<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Madelyn Schneider<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p5\" class=\"permalinkable\">She said being one of few places that stayed open helped introduce her business to Springfield in a unique way.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p6\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cIt allowed us to be that outlet for people who wanted to get out,\u201d McQueen said. \u201cIt allowed us to introduce ourselves in a more intimate way to the community.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p7\" class=\"permalinkable\">After nearly five years of saving and operating what McQueen calls her \u201cmobile scoop shop\u201d \u2014 a food truck she was able park outside school events and local festivals \u2014 she knew it was time to bring her ice cream to North Jacksonville. She celebrated the business\u2019s fifth anniversary Aug. 29.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p8\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cThe goal was really to expand the brand and kind of spread our brand across different neighborhoods,\u201d McQueen said.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p9\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cWe\u2019re not just about making money. It\u2019s about enhancing the communities around us.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p10\" class=\"permalinkable\">McQueen said she chose the Dunns Creek shopping center because it sits between North Jacksonville\u2019s growing residential neighborhoods and Interstate 295. She wants her business to help bring these new communities together and designed the Scoops lounge with this in mind.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" class=\"media-element file-default fr-fic fr-dii\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/Scoops1_Madelyn_Schneider_t850.jpeg\" title=\"Scoops Lounge at Northpoint at 11257 Alta Drive in the Dunns Creek Crossing shopping center.\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Scoops Lounge at Northpoint at 11257 Alta Drive in the Dunns Creek Crossing shopping center.<\/p>\n<p>Photo by Madelyn Schneider<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p11\" class=\"permalinkable\">The walls inside the establishment are painted a kaleidoscope of colors and offer a communal space with deep-cushioned white couches and benches that give the lounge floor a cloudlike appearance.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p12\" class=\"permalinkable\">Both Scoops locations seat about 50 patrons, and McQueen says she has found the lounge space perfect for community movie nights and family trivia.<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p13\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cThere are lots of neighborhoods around there with young families,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p21\" class=\"permalinkable\">\u201cYou want to make sure they have (a) place where they can bring their families, bring their children, bring their friends\u2026 The whole business is really just about community.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p id=\"h837624-p22\" class=\"permalinkable\">McQueen attributes much of her business success to her mother, Sharon Williams, her best friend and manager of the Main Street location.
