Now, just a few months later, that concept is now reality, with the Tecno Slim coming to market soon.

The original appeal of the Tecno Spark Slim was that the 5.75mm thin smartphone was thinner than the Galaxy S25 Edge, but with a much larger 5,200 mAh battery. And, at MWC, it certainly caught our attention.

Back in February I said:

Tecno’s Spark Slim has an incredibly thin design that’s also incredibly light. It almost doesn’t feel real, and Tecno even mentioned at MWC that it had to add weight to the device to help avoid that. At 166g, though, it still feels unbelievable. The hardware is also very polished and feels great in the hand with its curves. The LED-equipped camera bar is neat too, and gives some Nexus 6P vibes until it lights up.

Fast forward to today, and the Tecno Slim is actually launching, “next week” the company mentioned to us at IFA. It won’t be sold in all markets, but the final device is still pretty impressive. It comes in two variations. The Tecno Spark Slim is the thinnest device at 5.93mm, while the Tecno Pova Slim is slightly thicker at 5.95mm. The main difference between the two is LTE vs 5G. Both offer a 5,160 mAh battery – smaller, but still bigger than Galaxy S25 Ultra – with 45W charging and a 144Hz curved AMOLED display (though the size isn’t mentioned). A MediaTek Dimensity 6400 runs the show under the hood with Android 15.

Advertisement – scroll for more content

Pricing hasn’t been mentioned, but the company says the device will be released in “emerging markets and beyond” soon.

In a brief hands-on at IFA 2025, I can say that the final product is just as good as it originally was. I didn’t notice the change in thickness at all, and what still impresses me more than anything is just how light the phone feels. Tecno didn’t share that spec in its press release, but it’s said to be around 5.5oz or 156g – even lighter than the concept model. That felt about right, but the size of the phone being around the same size as Galaxy S25+ or Pixel 10 Pro XL just makes that lightweight feel all the more out of this world. I’m also a big fan of the switch from the glossy glass of the concept to the new matte finish.

We’ll never see the Tecno Slim in the US and, possibly, in many other major markets, but I’m certainly hoping that this pushes Samsung ahead. The Galaxy S25 Edge was first up to bat, but I think Tecno is the one showing what a slim phone can and should be.

What do you think?

More from IFA 2025:

Follow Ben: Twitter/X, Threads, Bluesky, and Instagram

FTC: We use income earning auto affiliate links. More.

Earlier this year Tecno showed off a concept device called the “Spark Slim” which was aiming to offer…

[17
611,158,67,132,68
0":"post-201605","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-mobile","8":"tag-mobile","9":"tag-technology","10":"tag-united-states","11":"tag-unitedstates","12":"tag-us
["GET
