Sabalenka, the world No. 1 and defending champion, met one very good boy appropriately named Wilson &#8212; and she was immediately smitten.<\/p>\n<p>She quickly took to her Instagram story to share a picture of herself with Wilson outside of Arthur Ashe Stadium and asked her fans and followers for some help.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Guys please help me to convince my team to adopt this sweetheart,&#8221; she wrote alongside the photo.<\/p>\n<p>Fast-forward two weeks and the story has a happy ending. Although Sabalenka didn&#8217;t get the puppy, he is going home with another tennis champion.<\/p>\n<p>On Thursday, <a data-player-guid=\"04563b72-94b5-8250-32a7-a046fbbae896\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3547\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Asia Muhammad<\/a>, currently ranked No. 17 in doubles and the winner of 13 doubles titles on the WTA Tour, announced she had adopted Wilson. Posting a series of pictures of them together &#8212; including one in which Wilson is wearing his official US Open credential &#8212; Muhammad wrote, &#8220;New pup, who dis? Welcome home, Wilson.&#8221;<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"instagram-media\" data-instgrm-captioned=\"\" data-instgrm-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOMUs6pkiy2\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;utm_campaign=loading\" data-instgrm-version=\"14\" style=\" background:#FFF; border:0; border-radius:3px; box-shadow:0 0 1px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.5),0 1px 10px 0 rgba(0,0,0,0.15); margin: 1px; max-width:540px; min-width:326px; padding:0; width:99.375%; width:-webkit-calc(100% - 2px); width:calc(100% - 2px);\"\/>\n<p>Several of Muhammad&#8217;s friends and peers were quick to congratulate her for the new addition.<\/p>\n<p><a data-player-guid=\"23e07188-31d5-847c-2c84-124a1cb1b2dc\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=1897\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shelby Rogers<\/a>, who retired after the US Open last season, said, &#8220;Love this story! We love Wilson!!!&#8221; and <a data-player-guid=\"63f9c1e5-14bd-003f-c269-31543931ad1d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=2113\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jessica Pegula<\/a>, who was slated to play Sabalenka in the semifinals just hours later, wrote, &#8220;The most perfect boy!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad first became aware of Wilson and the other rescue dogs who were on-site after fellow American doubles player <a data-player-guid=\"88427529-64e9-1667-285e-1c73a8a014da\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=3625\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Desirae Krawczyk<\/a> posted a series of pictures and videos of them on Instagram.<\/p>\n<p>Krawczyk commented, &#8220;We love Wilson&#8221; on Muhammad&#8217;s post on Thursday, and Muhammad responded by crediting Krawczyk for making it happen. &#8220;All started from your post,&#8221; she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>Muhammad reached the quarterfinals in doubles at the US Open with partner <a data-player-guid=\"0be80914-0ff8-9024-97b2-1e6a2af1087a\" href=\"http:\/\/www.espn.com\/sports\/tennis\/players\/profile?playerId=1874\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Demi Schuurs<\/a>.
