{"id":201844,"date":"2025-09-05T08:36:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T08:36:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/201844\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T08:36:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T08:36:11","slug":"bruce-pearl-addresses-rumors-of-potential-run-for-us-senate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/201844\/","title":{"rendered":"Bruce Pearl addresses rumors of potential run for US Senate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With his long-term future at Auburn <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/news\/college-basketball\/bruce-pearl-suggests-the-end-of-his-auburn-tenure-is-drawing-near\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">up in the air<\/a>, head coach Bruce Pearl has faced offseason speculation in recent months about a potential leap into politics. <\/p>\n<p>This offseason, rumors have circulated around the basketball community that Pearl might be eyeing a future U.S. Senate run.<\/p>\n<p>At the recent Mike Slive Foundation\u2019s Blue Shoe Ball, Pearl addressed these swirling rumors with a characteristic candor. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have not answered the question because I\u2019ve never announced I was running for Senate, have I?\u201d he posed to reporters, per AL.com. \u201cSo, how do you answer the question of whether you are or whether you aren\u2019t because I never said I was.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The buzz began in May when Semafor <a href=\"https:\/\/www.semafor.com\/article\/05\/27\/2025\/gop-chatters-about-auburn-coach-bruce-pearl-for-senate\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">reported<\/a> that the Pearl had been discussed by Republicans as a candidate for Tommy Tuberville\u2019s vacated seat following his gubernatorial campaign. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s certainly something that I had considered,\u201d Pearl said. \u201cIt\u2019s something I thought a great deal about, but obviously I\u2019m here today and I\u2019m in practice and I\u2019ve got practice tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/college-basketball\/teams\/auburn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Auburn basketball<\/a> gears up for its first preseason exhibition against Oklahoma State on Oct. 15, the team faces an uphill battle with a revamped roster aiming to return to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.saturdaydownsouth.com\/college-basketball\/march-madness\/final-four\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"><strong>Final Four<\/strong><\/a>.
