Construction on the Fletcher Cove Improvement Project in Solana Beach began after Labor Day and will continue through the end of 2025, the city announced, in an effort to \u201cenhance one of our community\u2019s most treasured spaces.\u201d<\/p>\n
The public will continue to have beach access as construction is ongoing.<\/p>\n
The upgrades will cost a little more than $500,000 and will be funded by the city\u2019s Measure S, a one-cent sales tax that Solana Beach voters approved in 2022.<\/p>\n
According to the city, the work includes replacement of the beach access ramp, including the concrete ramp, as well as the asphalt concrete walkway south of the ramp, the concrete curb, and the metal handrailing; the dissipater storm drain grate at the bottom of the ramp; adding shower heads and improving the drainage in the shower area; and putting a new shower area at the bottom of the ramp for more immediate shower access from the beach.<\/p>\n
The dissipator grate, which was installed in 1998 and has corroded over the years due to the ocean conditions, is also being replaced, the city announced.<\/p>\n
\u201cBeach access will remain open throughout construction, ensuring the community can continue to enjoy Fletcher Cove while these upgrades are underway,\u201d the city announced to the community, adding that \u201cSignage will also be posted to keep everyone updated during the project timeline.\u201d<\/p>\n
