ONEIDA COUNTY-<\/strong> The National Weather Service is expected to send a storm survey team to the Ava, NY area Friday, September 5 in the wake of what was a likely tornado Thursday evening.<\/p>\n

At around 6:00 p.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Boonville, NY and Northeastern Oneida County.<\/p>\n

The warning came amidst a series of rain and thunderstorms that passed through the general Central and Northern New York regions.<\/p>\n

Results of the storm analysis are expected to be released later on Friday. \u201cThe storm started rotating very quickly with very little warning,\u201d said WKTV Chief Meteorologist Bill Kardas.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, we\u2019re learning that\u2019s how most tornadoes behave in Upstate New York. Many spin up quickly, produce isolated damage, and last for a matter of minutes. There are many times when straight line winds produce more damage than tornadoes.\u201d<\/p>\n

We will follow up with any new developments from the National Weather Service and their storm survey team.<\/p>\n
