{"id":201987,"date":"2025-09-05T09:52:21","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T09:52:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/201987\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T09:52:21","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T09:52:21","slug":"barcelona-confirm-injury-blow-ahead-of-newcastle-united-clash-in-the-champions-league","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/201987\/","title":{"rendered":"Barcelona confirm injury blow ahead of Newcastle United clash in the Champions League"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Newcastle United will host Barcelona when the Champions League returns later this month. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>It is a huge game for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle United<\/a> and one that evokes fantastic memories in the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/tag\/champions-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Champions League<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Though the Magpies have lost three of their four meetings against the Catalan giants, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/throwbacks\/the-night-tino-asprilla-became-a-newcastle-united-legend-with-champions-league-hat-trick-vs-barcelona\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Newcastle famously beat Barcelona 3-2 in September 1997<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.geordiebootboys.com\/club\/stadium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St James\u2019 Park<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>Cult hero Tino Asprilla scored a hat-trick that day and it remains one of the most remarkable European results in the club\u2019s history. <\/p>\n<p>As such, it will be fascinating to see the Spanish champions return to Tyneside.
