That’s a big shift from last week when wet weather made things tough on folks heading out to games and outdoor fun.

Our Exact Track 4D radar is showing clear skies to kick off Friday, and if you’re planning on heading to a high school football game or Sunday’s Jaguars versus Panthers matchup, you can get excited. Game time temps for the Jags are expected to be around 87 degrees at 1 p.m., mostly sunny with just a few pop-up showers possible.

Rain odds during tailgating are sitting in the 30 to 40 percent range, which means most of us should have smooth sailing through the afternoon in the upper 80s.

Morning lows are sitting in the upper 60s and low 70s—about 68 degrees in Jacksonville at sunrise—warming up to the low 90s by 3 p.m. So yes, it’s a warm one, but at least you’ll stay dry at the games. Winds are calmer than earlier in the week, picking up a little in the afternoon with gusts in the teens or low 20s, but nothing that should mess with your plans.

Rain and cooler temps ahead

We’ll keep the dry pattern into Sunday, but things change as we head into next week.

Beginning Monday, rain chances are expected to increase, bringing us much-needed moisture and a cooldown. Our models, including the GFS, suggest rainfall totals start to grow after a dry weekend, especially after midday Monday when our highs begin dipping into the 80s. By the middle of the week, afternoon temps should fall into the low to mid 80s.

It’s not possible to pin down exact rainfall numbers yet, but the pattern that’s setting up points to more widespread showers starting Monday. We’ll be tracking those totals closely on Exact Track 4D and updating you with anything that might impact your week ahead.

Beach forecast and tropical outlook

Planning a beach trip? Air temperatures are in the mid-80s, water around 82 degrees. There’s a moderate rip current risk along our coastline, so be sure to stay aware if you’re headed into the surf. The UV index is high, so grab the sunscreen and enjoy—but use caution, especially with little ones out in the sun.

We’re also watching the tropics. There’s a system out in the Atlantic likely to become a tropical depression this weekend, possibly developing as Tropical Storm Gabrielle.

Looking ahead to next week

To sum it all up: this weekend, enjoy the sunshine and warmth while you’re out at the games or at the beach. Monday brings a better shot at showers and cooler temps—so you might want to plan your outdoor work and lake days for Saturday or Sunday.

As always, you can follow the latest on News4JAX.com and share your weather photos at SnapJAX.
