United paid \u00a373million to sign forward Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig<\/p>\n

With the season now four games old, Manchester United would have been hopeful that their new \u00a373million forward would have found the back of the net by now.<\/p>\n

United<\/a> fought off strong interest from Newcastle United in the Slovenia international over the summer to prise him from RB Leipzig to complete a new look front three alongside Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.<\/a><\/p>\n

But while Cunha and Mbeumo, who both have years of Premier League experience under their belt, have wasted little time in making an impression at Old Trafford, Sesko<\/a> has made little impact so far.<\/p>\n

That, of course, can be heavily caveated by the fact he is yet to start in the Premier League and has accumulated just 80 minutes of action across United’s opening three league games.<\/p>\n

Amorim was keen to stress he wanted Sesko to fully acclimatise to a new country and a new league before huge pressure was put on United’s new goal hope but question marks were raised about the one match he has started.<\/p>\n

Sesko played the full 90 minutes as United were dumped out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Grimsby last week and he was heavily criticised for being the last outfield player to take a penalty in the shootout.<\/p>\n

The fact United’s marquee centre-forward was the 10th penalty taker and did not take the responsibility of taking a kick before the likes of defenders Matthijs de Ligt and Harry Maguire did not sit well among some observers.<\/p>\n

Some even saw it as a major red flag, despite is being so early into his time at the club.<\/p>\n

Sesko, by his own admission, has taken time to adapt and admitted in an interview in Slovenia this week that the level is higher than he has been used to in recent years.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe level of the matches is certainly much higher, the players and teammates are also at a higher level. After all, English football is at the highest level in the world of football,\u201d Sesko told Ekipa<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut I am very much looking forward to the coming period, also because I am getting better and faster in every training session, and I am also progressing in my football mentality every day.<\/p>\n

“I wanted to move to England and, fortunately, my wish came true.\u201d<\/p>\n

And that ‘coming period’ starts this evening as Sesko will line up for Slovenia in their opening World Cup qualifier against Sweden at home.<\/p>\n

Slovenia then take on Switzerland at Basel’s St Jakob Park on Monday and United fans will hope to get a glimpse of why they were so inclined to pay so much money for the 22-year-old.<\/p>\n

Sesko scored 21 goals in all competitions at club level last season to establish himself as one of the hottest young strikers in European football.<\/p>\n
