{"id":202771,"date":"2025-09-05T16:36:09","date_gmt":"2025-09-05T16:36:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/202771\/"},"modified":"2025-09-05T16:36:09","modified_gmt":"2025-09-05T16:36:09","slug":"as-ai-makes-it-harder-to-land-a-job-openai-is-building-a-platform-to-help-you-get-one","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/202771\/","title":{"rendered":"As AI makes it harder to land a job, OpenAI is building a platform to help you get one"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As job-seekers struggle to find a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/31\/gen-z-eyeing-secure-healthcare-jobs-ai-proof-careers-but-chiropractors-doctors-and-paramedics-are-the-unhappiest-workers-hospitality-happiest\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/31\/gen-z-eyeing-secure-healthcare-jobs-ai-proof-careers-but-chiropractors-doctors-and-paramedics-are-the-unhappiest-workers-hospitality-happiest\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\">career that AI isn\u2019t actively replacing<\/a>, OpenAI is rolling out an AI-powered jobs platform that aligns employers with candidates who have AI skills.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cOpenAI Jobs Platform\u201d will use AI to assist qualified candidates to match with companies and help alleviate the technology\u2019s job disruption that\u2019s been caused in part by the invention of ChatGPT itself.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The blog post doesn\u2019t confirm when the new platform will launch but a spokesperson told <a href=\"https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/09\/04\/openai-announces-ai-powered-hiring-platform-to-take-on-linkedin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/techcrunch.com\/2025\/09\/04\/openai-announces-ai-powered-hiring-platform-to-take-on-linkedin\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">TechCrunch<\/a> that it could be ready mid-2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJobs will look different, companies will have to adapt, and all of us\u2014from shift workers to CEOs\u2014will have to learn how to work in new ways,\u201d OpenAI CEO of applications<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/05\/08\/fidji-simo-openai-ceo-applications-instacart-facebook-ai-healthcare-metrodora\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/05\/08\/fidji-simo-openai-ceo-applications-instacart-facebook-ai-healthcare-metrodora\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\"> Fidji Simo<\/a> wrote in a <a href=\"https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/expanding-economic-opportunity-with-ai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/openai.com\/index\/expanding-economic-opportunity-with-ai\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">blog post<\/a> released Thursday.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In addition to developing a <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/linkedin\/\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/linkedin\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\">LinkedIn<\/a> rival, OpenAI is launching a new certification program to help workers build \u201cAI fluency\u201d and use AI better in their 9-to-5s. As part of that program, it\u2019s partnering with corporate giants like Walmart and John Deere to help workers pivot. By 2030, it hopes to certify 10 million Americans.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt OpenAI, we can\u2019t eliminate that disruption,\u201d Simo added. \u201cBut what we can do is help more people become fluent in AI and connect them with companies that need their skills, to give people more economic opportunities.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>AI\u2019s labor market shift\u00a0is hitting Gen Z hard<\/p>\n<p>OpenAI\u2019s mission to job seekers is becoming urgent for recent graduates as they face an increasingly stark reality:<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/09\/04\/ai-entry-level-jobs-uncertainty-college-grads\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/09\/04\/ai-entry-level-jobs-uncertainty-college-grads\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\"> AI is replacing the junior roles<\/a> they need to kickstart their careers. Early-career workers aged 22 to 25 in jobs most exposed to AI automation, such as software development and customer service, have seen steep relative declines in employment, according to findings in a paper from <a href=\"https:\/\/digitaleconomy.stanford.edu\/publications\/canaries-in-the-coal-mine\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/digitaleconomy.stanford.edu\/publications\/canaries-in-the-coal-mine\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">Stanford University\u2019s Digital Economy Lab<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>At the same time, CEOs have admitted they are cutting jobs en masse and replacing them with<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/09\/02\/salesforce-ceo-billionaire-marc-benioff-ai-agents-jobs-layoffs-customer-service-sales\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/09\/02\/salesforce-ceo-billionaire-marc-benioff-ai-agents-jobs-layoffs-customer-service-sales\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\"> AI agents.<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/ranking\/most-powerful-people\/2025\/marc-benioff\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/ranking\/most-powerful-people\/2025\/marc-benioff\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\">Marc Benioff<\/a> said <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/salesforce-com\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/company\/salesforce-com\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\">Salesforce<\/a> has cut about 4,000 customer service roles, and just \u201cneeds less heads\u201d now that AI agents can handle over a million consumer conversations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was able to rebalance my headcount on my support,\u201d Marc Benioff, CEO of the $248 billion computer software company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0RkNkGihrvc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0RkNkGihrvc\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">recently revealed on<\/a> the podcast The Logan Bartlett Show. \u201cI\u2019ve reduced it from 9,000 heads to about 5,000 because I need less heads.<\/p>\n<p>Other tech giants in Silicon Valley have similarly shrunk their workforce because of AI. Klarna CEO Sebastian Siemiatkowski told<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/14\/klarna-ceo-says-ai-helped-company-shrink-workforce-by-40percent.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/05\/14\/klarna-ceo-says-ai-helped-company-shrink-workforce-by-40percent.html\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\"> CNBC<\/a> this year that his company has shrunk its workforce by about 40%, in part due to its investments in artificial intelligence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is, the company has shrunk from about 5,000 to now almost 3,000 employees,\u201d he said to CNBC\u2019s Power Lunch in May.<\/p>\n<p>On the flip side, other members of OpenAI\u2019s C-Suite have expressed optimism toward Gen Z adapting AI in the workforce.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Its CEO, <a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/13\/musk-openai-apple-clash-over-app-store\/\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/fortune.com\/2025\/08\/13\/musk-openai-apple-clash-over-app-store\/\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\" rel=\"noopener\">Sam Altman<\/a>, said that for younger people entering the job market it\u2019s actually \u201cthe most exciting time to be starting out one\u2019s career, maybe ever.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think that [a] 25-year-old in Mumbai can probably do more than any previous 25-year-old in history could,\u201d Altman said on an episode of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/10\/technology\/coding-ai-jobs-students.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" aria-label=\"Go to https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2025\/08\/10\/technology\/coding-ai-jobs-students.html\" class=\"sc-4f49155c-0 hLtviE\">People by WTF podcast with Nikhil Kamath.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Fortune Global Forum<\/strong> returns Oct. 26\u201327, 2025 in Riyadh.
