(Supplied: Brave Babes Australia)<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">While some are working out in the park at sunrise, others are seeking more adventurous ways to move outdoors.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">But they can often face barriers that make these experiences feel out of reach.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Dr Lauren Pearson, a research fellow at Monash University, said safety concerns, knowledge gaps and a lack of confidence were key factors.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"EmphasisedText_quote__TE6kn\"><p>&#8220;There are real concerns around personal safety, especially on isolated trails or shared paths,&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>  she said.&#8217;Doing it in a group felt way safer&#8217;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">Founded on the Sunshine Coast, Brave Babes creates beginner-friendly outdoor experiences designed specifically for women trying to meet like-minded people.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;When I moved to [the Sunshine Coast], I was super determined to make new friends \u2026 especially ones who also loved getting outdoors,&#8221; said co-founder Kate Bradley.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;I think as a woman it&#8217;s kind of very important to make sure that you&#8217;ve got all your ducks in a row \u2026 so I think doing it in a group felt way safer.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.abc.net.au\/news\/2025-04-25\/womens-running-changes-once-the-sun-sets\/105089612\" class=\"RelatedCard_link__rsgR9 FullBleedLink_root__lTw_U interactive_focusContext__yRhc_ interactive_defaults__AKxUU FullBleedLink_showVisited__g3Xvz\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Women&#8217;s running changes once the sun sets<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Typography_base__sj2RP RelatedCard_synopsis__cFwMW Typography_sizeMobile14__u7TGe Typography_lineHeightMobile20___U7Vr Typography_regular__WeIG6 Typography_colourInherit__dfnUx\" data-component=\"Typography\">An increasing number of women are signing up to local run clubs, even tackling their first marathon.
